Thus, if the self-nature is established, it becomes a cause; if it is not established, it is not, because that is the nature of being separate from all abilities. Once the self-nature of a thing is established, it is tantamount to admitting that it is established without a cause. If one does not want to admit another cause different from it, then how can it not be without a cause? A thing is not other than its self-nature, so when the self-nature is established, the thing is also established, thus becoming without a cause. If it is not so, then when the self-nature is established, the thing is not established, then how can it become a substance that is non-different from the self-nature? Therefore, those arguments that refute the theory of no cause are also applicable here. Since simultaneity and non-simultaneity contradict being a cause, the third possibility is also impossible. If it becomes a cause, then the result will either be simultaneous with the cause or non-simultaneous. But it is not simultaneous, because the self has not yet been obtained, and is empty of all abilities, so it has no effect on any result. The self itself, according to its nature, the result is also obtained simultaneously with it, it is only the nature of the substance itself, the result has no effect on it. If it is non-simultaneous, then it will be changed by being separated by another time. For example, just as the Vaibhashikas consider the cause of Vipaka to be a cause, or it changes from offering. For example, the Sutrantikas say that the destruction and production of cause and effect are balanced like the two ends of a scale. If so, then if the result is produced after being separated by another time, it is tantamount to admitting that it is produced from complete destruction. Because it is separate from all abilities, complete destruction should not be the object of the cause. If it is not so, then how can the destroyed thing that is not the agent be completely destroyed? As for the aspect of offering, if the whole self and the offering are simultaneous at that time, then when two indivisible things are offered by the whole self, there is no other possibility than occurring simultaneously. Therefore, just as if the atoms are cut off by the whole self, they will become atoms upwards, so it is difficult to avoid the kalpa becoming a moment. If offering with one part, then it has limbs.

Therefore, all things are unborn in the ultimate sense. If not examined, they appear to arise like false happiness, which is similar to the nature of appearance in a deluded consciousness. If mere fame is not a valid means of knowledge, then the cause and effect of things, even cowherds, would be famous, so how can it be reasonable to say that it should not be destroyed? Fame, such as form, etc., has already been destroyed by valid cognition. Therefore, the Blessed One said in the Sutra of the Moon Lamp: "Having blocked the valid cognitions such as the eye, the eye, ear, and nose are also not valid cognitions, the tongue, body, and mind are also not valid cognitions. If these senses were valid, what use would the noble path have for anyone? Thus, these senses are not valid cognitions, their nature is therefore indeterminate. Therefore, whoever desires the path of nirvana, should diligently practice the deeds of the noble path." Thus it is said. The definition of direct perception that the teachers have spoken of is also direct perception in conventional truth, and it should be observed whether it enters into ultimate truth. In conventional truth, it is not a consistent debate and examination, therefore, it is to be shown in conventional truth, so it is unexaminable. Therefore, the Blessed One has prohibited the arising of things such as green barley from self and other. Thus it is said. In the Holy Lankavatara Sutra it is also said: "Because of having or not having great wisdom, all dharmas are unborn, therefore it is said to be unborn." From the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra: "Subhuti, a little dharma is unborn, that is called unborn." Among them, what is wisdom? That is the forbearance of unborn dharmas. Thus it is said. In the Jewel Source Sutra it is also said: "Whatever has no self-nature, how can other conditions change because of no self-nature? How can others be born because of no self-nature? This cause was well taught by the Sugata." Thus it is said. It is also said: "The arising of things is conventional, in the ultimate truth there is no self-nature." If it is said that all of this is spoken of by the power of the nature of complete imputation, that is not so, because all natures have already been refuted by valid cognition. With this virtuous root
