It should be known. If it is not like that, how can one become a Tathagata without abandoning the obscurations? Therefore, if sentient beings exist, then the Tathagata will see them very clearly, because I have personally realized it, so there is no doubt. That itself will become a firm attachment to it. Therefore, from the cause of attachment, the net of afflictions, all bonds will become light or very strong, at that time, because the obscurations of very strong bonds such as desire have not been abandoned, the Bhagavan has not attained the state of Tathagata, the Bhagavan has attained that state, therefore, that is the abandonment of all obscurations. Having abandoned the obscurations, all the mountains of attachment are destroyed. Therefore, one will not fail to know that there are no sentient beings. Even if non-self has been ascertained, there is still attachment to self, is it not the characteristic of having a view of self? Bhagavan, how can one not think of oneself as me, etc.? To this, Subhuti said, "The so-called attachment to self," etc. If he grasps something like me, etc., then at that time, the Bhagavan has abandoned the obscurations, and attachment to it will arise universally, because there is nothing to be grasped as me, so the Tathagata explained that there is no attachment. So, what is called attachment? To this, it is also said, "That also," etc. Because they do not possess hearing, etc., and cannot clearly know what should be abandoned and what should be accepted, they are children. Because they do not possess speculation, they are different from the noble ones, so they are ordinary beings. Among ordinary beings, some listen to the correct scriptures, abide in proper attention, and generate faith in the non-self of the Dharma, but because they truly cling, they do not cling to self, in order to distinguish those people, so children are mentioned. If only children are mentioned, then such ordinary beings, even if they are proficient in the aggregates, etc., because they have not generated the noble path, they are children's self, in order to show the difference of children. That is indeed a wrong attachment, but because it has become a child, it appears to them as if they are attached to self, because that is his thought.

It is said that it is held as self by its power. That alone does not become true, but will become a fault, because why not hold self and so on as true by the combination of words such as non-self? If there is no self, then who is thought to be an ordinary person? Answer: It is said that children are ordinary people and so on. However, in the ultimate sense, there is no sentient being, and there is no fault because it is said based on the conventional. By all these, the extremes of addition and slander are eliminated, so it is shown that the mind should be well grasped. By all of this, the profound nature is actually expressed. Showing the cause of establishing the great pith instructions in all sentient beings, it also shows the vastness of the perfection of the mind. If there are no children or ordinary people, then where is the perfect body of the Tathagata adorned with good signs and marks? If the nature of ordinary people arises from the root of compassion, and after generating the mind of enlightenment, if one practices the paramitas, then the body of the Tathagata will be adorned with good signs and so on to become perfect. If there are none of them, then there is no root, so how can the perfect body of the Tathagata be achieved? Thus, for the sake of those who have accumulated a considerable amount of realization among the assembled retinues, who cling to appearances such as form as real, and who think like that, for the sake of those, with the freedom to grasp the Dharmakaya, he said, "Subhuti, what do you think?" and so on. Previously, the establishment of the Dharmakaya was not made, but this was said for the sake of establishing the Dharmakaya, so there is no fault of repetition. If one examines in the ultimate sense, then the good signs should not be reasonably considered as having limbs, or the nature of accumulated dust. After knowing this, hold on to the previous intention. The noble Subhuti replied: No, Blessed One. The Blessed One spoke of other reasonable points here. Subhuti, if so and so on. If the Tathagata is distinguished only by the perfection of good signs, then because the cause of what is said is the same, why does the wheel-turning king not become a Tathagata at that time?
