He was prophesied to abide on the path. Saying that there is no Dharma of perfect and complete enlightenment, it actually fully reveals the conflicting aspects of the conceptualization of receiving teachings from Dipamkara, and in order to dispel that conceptualization, it also shows aspiration and making prayers. Just mentioning the name Dipamkara can dispel all conceptualizations about receiving the Dharma. Saying "there is not" also speaks of its profundity. Showing that one completely seeks teachings for perfect and complete enlightenment speaks of its vastness. Because it is far superior to the teachings of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. If the Tathagata does not have the unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, the Dharma of perfect and complete Buddhahood, then how could he become a Tathagata at that time? Thus, just as the previous Buddhas passed away having perfectly and completely attained enlightenment, so too here, having passed away and perfectly and completely attained Buddhahood, he is called a Tathagata. Since there is no Dharma to be perfectly and completely attained for Buddhahood, then how could he become that? If one thinks like that, why is the question asked? In response, Subhuti, the Tathagata, and so on were spoken. The so-called Suchness refers to the non-erroneous nature of all Dharmas, which is the nature of peace from the beginning. That is also common to all Dharmas, therefore, by saying "true," a distinction is made. True, in the sense of non-erroneous, refers to the wisdom of the Tathagata. His Suchness, that is, the Dharmata of non-origination in the ultimate sense, is called Tathagata, as it is said: The Dharma of constant non-origination is the Tathagata. As such, Dharmata is also not different from the Dharmadhatu in the ultimate sense, therefore, the nature of realizing the Dharmata of non-origination in the ultimate sense of all Dharmas, without investigation, solely rejoicing in the non-origination in the ultimate sense, the wisdom that exists having been thoroughly examined in the true conventional sense, is the very name of the excellent Tathagata. That is also because there is no grasping or grasper since it is unborn in the ultimate sense, therefore it is meaning.

Therefore, he thought that in the supreme state, there is no Dharma that can perfectly attain Buddhahood, but only relying on the true conventional truth, how the special wisdom perfectly attains Buddhahood, and only this is called Tathagata. Someone might think, why not say that he perfectly attained Buddhahood based on the ultimate truth? Therefore, it was said, "Subhuti, if there is..." etc. Why? This is to be associated with "unreal." The rest is easy to understand, so it is not explained. Then, how is the perfect attainment of Buddhahood by the Tathagata established in the conventional truth? In order to establish this, it was said, "What Dharma?" "What" refers to the Dharma of characteristics such as form. Among them, "there is no truth" means that if the appearance is observed like an illusion, it is because it has not produced great power. Like a rabbit's horn, because it does not exist at all. Also, "there is no falsehood" because it appears like an illusion in the unexamined nature. Or, in the ultimate truth, no Dharma can be established, so there is no truth. Any truth that needs to be properly considered cannot be established, and because all Dharmas are unborn, there is no falsehood. This establishes the Middle Way by preventing the extremes of addition and slander, and leads to the corresponding yoga. Therefore, just like this, in the ultimate truth, because all Dharmas are unborn, there is neither truth nor falsehood. The Tathagata is also distinguished by the complete purity of the unborn Dharma nature. Therefore, because the unborn Dharma nature is common. "The constantly arising limbs are the Tathagata. All Dharmas are also like the Sugata's conduct. Those with childish wisdom are attached to appearances. In all the worlds, they practice the non-existent Dharma." Etc., the Tathagata declared, "All Dharmas are the Buddha Dharma." If these Dharmas are only unborn, then how can it be said "all Dharmas"? Therefore, it was said, "Subhuti, the so-called all Dharmas..." etc. The meaning here is: This is because it exists in the ultimate truth.
