It also shows making aspirations and prayers. Just mentioning the name "from this Dharma teaching" means listening to all the Mahayana teachings, etc. The phrase "extremely abundant merit" refers to vastness. The phrase "by the power of Dharma" is synonymous with "by the power of faith in the Dharma." The fact that the venerable Subhuti shed tears is also to be seen as meaning that, through the blessing of the Bhagavan, other lazy people, hearing the wonderful aspects of the Mahayana Dharma, would generate great faith. Therefore, wiping away his tears with his hand, he said to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, this Dharma teaching spoken by so many Tathagatas is truly wonderful!" The term "how many" is a distinction of non-action, meaning to teach the Bodhisattvas in as many ways as are appropriate to be taught. Why is that? He said, "Since I have generated wisdom." The term "since" means from the time of generating the wisdom of the realm of the noble truths onwards. Until then, such a supreme display of the fruit of merit of the Dharma teaching, which is not the realm of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, has never been heard before. This is to say that it is difficult to obtain. Having heard such excellent merit, those who generate diligence and enter, understanding this Dharma as it is spoken, say "It is most wonderful" in order to completely abandon their faults. Because they generate great merit, and have faith in what is difficult for inferior people to believe, and have faith in the very profound selflessness of persons and phenomena, those like me who have only realized the selflessness of persons are endowed with great wonder. The term "truly understand" means to understand the meaning without distortion, not to cling to the sound of what should be done as it is spoken, thinking "This is true." In this way, all Dharmas here are taught with reference to the ultimate truth of emptiness of inherent existence, but in conventional truth, it is not without inherent existence. Therefore, regarding seeing, etc.

It is thought that there is no contradiction. If there is a truly valid perception, then the object of perception must also be truly existent. Because if there is no object of perception, then perception itself would be impossible. Therefore, after examining the question of how all phenomena are without inherent existence in the ultimate sense, the question is asked, "For what reason is that?" The answer is, "Bhagavan, what is truly valid perception?" Because the object of perception, and anything else, does not exist, and is free from the nature of one and many, therefore in the ultimate sense, that itself is without perception. Therefore, it is shown that one should not cling to truly valid perception as truly valid perception. Because when not examined, there is only joy, therefore the Tathagata says that is truly valid perception. If it were not so, it would not be spoken because it does not exist in any way. This shows both how to establish in the ultimate sense and how to accomplish through entering into meditative equipoise in yoga, and how to cut off distractions. It also explains the profound. It also abandons the extremes of superimposition and denigration. In order to generate wonder in those lazy ones, the venerable one said: It is not surprising to me that I contemplate and believe in the exposition of this category of Dharma. O Bhagavan, in the later age, in the last five hundred years of the degenerate age, those beings who receive, hold, and fully understand this category of Dharma, those beings will truly possess the virtue of rarity. Therefore, the meaning of the summary is: In the future, in the time when the holy Dharma will be utterly destroyed, those Bodhisattvas who will hold this category of Dharma, and they will not cling to persons and other things, such people will also appear. You do not have such practice even in the time of the feast of the holy Dharma, so this is truly a place of great shame for you. Among them, "I" refers to the realization of the selflessness of persons. "This" refers to the complete showing of the selflessness of both person and phenomena. "Exposition" refers to the Bhagavan personally making it clear.

The term 'discrimination' refers to the initial aspect, indicating the beginning. 'Faith' refers to the aspect of confidence. 'Those beings' refers to those who will appear in the future kalpa of the Bhagavan. The words 'grasping' and so on mentioned here have already been explained before. That will be declared as follows: Merely realizing the absence of self in a person, and through the power of hearing directly from the Bhagavan, merely having faith and confidence in this Dharma that teaches the two aspects of selflessness is not so amazing. It is those who, in the kalpa of the Bhagavan, through the gradual process of grasping this and so on, realize and fully understand this kind of Dharma category, who will be truly endowed with great rarity. Because the time of abandoning the Mahayana between the Bhagavan and the kalpa is very long, it is extremely rare to generate faith at that time, that is what he thought. This shows that one should abandon laziness, generate enthusiasm for upholding the sacred Dharma and so on, and abide by aspiration. In order to show that they not only possess scriptural authority but also complete realization, the term 'Bhagavan' is used. Mentioning 'I' and so on is to illustrate that at that time, they will not regard these as Dharma, because they simultaneously realize the two kinds of selflessness. If there were 'I' and so on, then at that time, there would certainly be attachment to them, thinking of this, the question is asked, 'Why is that?' and the answer is given, 'Attachment to self.' This indicates that for the time being, setting aside the 'I' and so on as mentioned before, for all beings, the universally existing self-grasping that thinks 'This is me' cannot bear the burden of examination and is nothing at all, let alone the 'I' and so on that have not been experienced, things will not exist, needless to say, that is how he shows it. This shows that one should enter into meditative equipoise. If even 'I' and so on do not exist, but if they are reversed, they will not be attached to 'I' and so on, thinking of this, through examining the question raised internally, the question is asked, 'Why is that?' and the answer is given that the Buddhas, the Bhagavans, are
