Because it focuses on being associated with afflictions and the absence of self of phenomena, the absence of self is necessarily produced, therefore the absence of self is explained as the characteristic of necessarily arising. Moreover, what follows is that the past and so forth are fully clarified as being like dreams and so on. Among them, the past actions are like dreams merely because they exist in memory. What is happening now is like lightning merely because it does not last long. The future is like clouds because its seeds are covered by negative karma on a mind that is like the sky. Therefore, in order to fully understand the workings of all conditioned phenomena of the three times, one should realize that these are without self, thus fully demonstrating the characteristic of necessarily arising and following. Those and those supports are supports that clarify the appearance of similarity, namely: the support of complete holding, the support of completely purifying the pāramitās, the support of aspiration, the support of being free from obstacles, the support of completely purifying intention, the ultimate support, the vast support, and the profound support. The support of complete holding is the generation of bodhicitta. The support of completely purifying the pāramitās is the practice of the pāramitās. The support of aspiration is to obtain the form body and the dharma body. The support of being free from obstacles is the remaining twelve branches. The support of completely purifying intention is realization. The ultimate support is to fully seek the state of Buddhahood beyond that. The vast and profound supports are all. First, a Bodhisattva should generate bodhicitta on the support, such as "any sentient being" and so on. This is vast. If a Bodhisattva again arises with attachment to sentient beings, such as "if a Bodhisattva arises with attachment to sentient beings" and so on. This is profound and is also the second support. As it is said, "A Bodhisattva should give alms without dwelling on things" and so on, this is profound. As it is said, "Again, that accumulation of merit is not easy to measure" and so on, this is vast. Thus, the support

Furthermore, how should one understand the profound and vast teachings for others? It has already been explained about the basis. What is the antidote? One should understand that the antidote is the nature of practicing it and its basis. One wrongly establishes through two aspects, which are also the views of the perishable aggregates. In correct establishment, here, 'view' is considered as conceptualization. Initially, for a while, the basis is that a Bodhisattva should generate the mind in this way: 'Whatever sentient beings there are,' this is the antidote to wrong establishment. If the mind is not generated in this way, it will become wrong establishment. If, again, a Bodhisattva perceives sentient beings as sentient beings, then what is said is the correct view, which is the correct establishment and the antidote. These are also clung to by conceptualization, which a Bodhisattva should abandon. 'Sentient beings should be completely liberated from suffering,' this is the second point. What is said, 'One should give,' is the antidote to wrong establishment. If one does not give, it will become a wrong path for a Bodhisattva. If, again, a Bodhisattva gives without abiding in things, then what is said is the correct view, which is the correct establishment and the antidote. These are also clung to by conceptualization, which a Bodhisattva should abandon, and one should give. What is non-regression? It is the complete abandonment of the two extremes. What are the extremes here? They are the extreme of superimposition and the extreme of denial. If someone clings to the literally existent dharmas as non-imputed nature, this is the extreme of superimposition. If someone clings to the basis of the selflessness of phenomena as non-existent things, this is the extreme of denial. Therefore, the Blessed One said, 'That very accumulation of merit is without accumulation,' which is said to be what eliminates the extreme of superimposition. Because that accumulation of merit does not exist, whatever exists literally exists by imputed nature. Therefore, again, the Tathagata said, 'Accumulation of merit,' which is said to be what eliminates the extreme of denial. Literal
