Whether it is a deceased monk, a nun, a male lay practitioner, or a female lay practitioner, whoever says to me, "Thus, etc." It is said that they have given a Dharma talk, which means, "What is the nature of the Dharma itself? What kind of talk is this?" When asked in this way, I would say, "It is a talk that does not contradict all dharmas." This is said in order to generate faith in those who have a manifest desire for the Dharma that does not contradict all dharmas. There is no dharma that contradicts the unborn, and that is Suchness, because all dharmas are unborn. This teaching, which has the nature of being independent and constant, is not easy to understand for any sentient being, including myself and the aggregates. What is the reason for this? It is because no sentient being can be designated. Having endured that meaning, and having become tolerant in that way, then, O Bhagavan, there is also another, "another" meaning other. "To that, also" means that later, this dharma called "unborn" was taught. In order to show the reason, it was said that all dharmas are equal in being unborn. How is it said in that way? In this way, that teaching enables one to attain the state of an Arhat and destroys the nature of an ordinary being. Therefore, if all dharmas are unborn, how is it equality? Therefore, in that teaching, what the Arhats have not realized is not shown, and the Dharma of the Arhats cannot destroy the Dharma of ordinary beings. It is said that the characteristic of an Arhat is common, and it refers to the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Perfectly Enlightened Buddhas. It was not shown or spoken that they had attained the wisdom beyond the world, which is the realization higher than them, and it was said that there was no complete realization. The Dharma of the Arhats also cannot destroy the Dharma of ordinary beings, such as desire, in any way, because those are unborn, etc. Those did not show complete abandonment. In that way, it was shown that the apprehended dharma is unborn.

Therefore, in order to show that there is no clinging arising, the Blessed One further said, "Regarding that, I say thus," and so on. That meaning has already been explained. The Blessed One further said, "Here, I wish to hear the profound Prajnaparamita," and so on. The meaning of "further" is that, in order to be able to hear the unborn, one becomes a vessel, and also one who asks further in order to hear this. To that question, instead of answering the question directly, it is said, "Regarding that, I say thus. If you wish to hear, do not think, 'Then let's listen.'" Do not cling to the mental fabrication that appears in your mind. Do not make efforts thinking, "I will listen." Therefore, do not generate the aspects of mind, intellect, and consciousness on that. Although the arising of the aspect of listening with its cause has been eliminated in this way, a part cannot be eliminated by that aspect alone. Therefore, in order to show two examples, it is said, "Hey, noble son, what is the wisdom of a magical person like?" and so on. A person created by magic is a magical person, but not a magician, because that does not conform to the nature of non-discrimination, and it contradicts the Eight Thousand Verses and the Twenty-Five Thousand Verses, and so on. Therefore, this example is clearly explained in this way: a magical person does not think, "The magician is close to me, and the other people are distant from me," and so on. If one asks where a magical person has wisdom, it is like there is none, and generating similar wisdom, that itself is the meaning of the example here. If it is like that, then one can understand this teaching, otherwise one cannot. If, like a magical person, there is no wisdom even slightly, then one can understand it here, this is a concluding statement. Therefore, it should be understood that this shows the absence of an object of focus. In order to show in what way that is done, the second example is, "Hey, noble son, if you want to hear this teaching, therefore, because of that reason, just like this, for example, a bird in the sky...

It is said, "Abide like a bird," and so on. A bird is a winged creature. Abiding is staying; not relying on or fixating on anything, and having no attachment to any place, that is its abiding. If you also abide in that way, without attachment, then you will be able to hear the meaning of explaining and listening like this. Therefore, it is said to listen. So, how does one abide? In order to show the meaning that is desired, it is said: "Hey, noble one, if you want to hear this Dharma teaching, therefore, do not fixate on two. And do not abide in non-duality either." Two refers to cause and effect, which is said in relation to conditioned phenomena. Non-duality refers to unconditioned phenomena, because neither cause nor effect has truly arisen. Some say that two refers to the grasper and the grasped. Non-duality refers to the emptiness of those. If one fixates on it, and with a mind that has its aspect, thinks that these are merely consciousness, thus engaging in superimposition, then one is not abiding in the suchness of the mind's consciousness. Why should one not fixate? Therefore, it is said, "For this, whatever can be called dual, or whatever is completely expressed," and so on. Neither duality nor non-duality has been spoken of or shown to be an object of fixation. If you want to hear this Dharma teaching, do not destroy the notions of self, etc., etc. Because for things like the notion of self, which are empty of inherent existence, destruction etc. are unreasonable. "Bhagavan, if someone wishes to listen from me and asks," etc., this is a summary of the previous content. To this, I will state the order of the manner shown above. Thus speaking, thus following and showing. I will place it in the image of the object of the non-conceptual samadhi. Merely abiding in following and showing the instructions also shows that the one to be tamed is dull-witted. If a son or daughter of good family who asks, like the two examples shown before, abides in that way, and enters in that way.
