Thus it was taught. The teacher Nagarjuna also said: "With a mind that has a dwelling place, why would great afflictive poisons not arise? Ordinary dwelling or being seized by venomous snakes of affliction. From suffering arises attachment, and from its reversal, detachment from desire. Like a magical being, in solitude, seeing it leads to nirvana." Thus it was said. For those aggregates and so forth that have not truly arisen, meditating on aspects such as non-conceptuality, the pacification of desire and so forth is not true, but it is said with the intention of leading the Shravakas into the Great Vehicle, relying on the mode of intention. Relying on the fruition of the non-learning Dharma, it was said that the venerable Sharadvatiputra did not overcome fear, and so forth. The Shravakas, frightened of the three realms by the suffering of birth and so forth, cultivated their own path and transcended the fear of samsara, obtaining the fruit. Manjushri, thinking with what intention did he say that, asked about the intention, and in response said: If there is not even a little fear, from what would one transcend? Let alone great fear or medium fear, there is not even a little fear, not even the slightest, because its birth and so forth have not arisen. Therefore, from what would one transcend, who, where, and how, should also be explained. This means that by meditating on the noble truths of impermanence and so forth, this Arhat has transcended the three realms and abides in Nirvana, all of this is not true, but merely an imputation. Fourth fascicle. Now, in order to distinguish the explanation of the Bodhisattva's Dharma, Shariputra asked Manjushri, what is the synonym for "unborn forbearance"? Forbearance for the unborn or realization of the unborn is forbearance, which is acceptance and desire, and from this there is unborn forbearance. Sharadvatiputra, who has not produced even a little bit of Dharma, such as the eye and form, and their consciousness, not even the slightest atom, and has contemplated that birth is not seen by the mind, is unborn forbearance.

It is called "Having." From here onwards, with regard to the characteristics of the three trainings on the path, it is said, "Manjushri, the unruly Bhikshuni," and so on. Why is an Arhat called that? Therefore, the unruly should be tamed, and the tamed should not be tamed. It is said, "Thinking of the son of Venerable Sharadvatiputra," and so on. The so-called unruly means either being separated from taming or those who are tamed in a wrong way should be tamed by teachings and instructions. The so-called tamed should not be tamed, which means those who have pure conduct, are free from the extremes of superimposition and denigration, should not be tamed. This is the concluding statement, referring to not focusing on the higher training of discipline, which is the nature of guarding body, speech, and mind. In this way, because his wisdom is very stable, he asked, and because he does not focus on the three trainings such as higher discipline, it is made to be in accordance with the statement that higher discipline and so on are the three trainings. The statement "The son of Venerable Sharadvatiputra practices higher mind" is a mere expression of ordinary people, because of focusing on the training and practice of higher mind. The reason here is that it is said that they are higher. Thus, because all the Buddhas have not attained the training of higher mind, those ordinary people increase and abide. If equality is abandoned, then one can also realize one's own mind and the minds of others. Ultimately, it is said to be the training of higher mind that does not focus on mind and practice. If one is pleased with the truthful explanation, then saying, "Manjushri, what you have said about the Arhat who has exhausted the defilements, is so, so, well done, well done," is to arouse the training of higher wisdom, because truthful speech is the fruit of wisdom. The so-called Arhat who has exhausted the defilements is the aggregate of liberation. The so-called speaking in that way is seeing the wisdom of liberation. This shows the fruit and intention of wisdom.

Yes. The noble Manjushri also intended to lead into the Great Vehicle, and in order to show the abandonment of the Hearer Vehicle, Shariputra is just like that, just as it was said, and so on. Considering other aspects, because he promised that it is the nature of the exhaustion of defilements, and because he actually blocked the nature of being an Arhat, therefore he showed that neither is the case. Why is that? As a reason for the doubt, the venerable son of Sharaadvati said, 'Like this, in the ground of the Hearer,' and so on. The Hearer Arhat and, in the ground of the Solitary Buddha, my own thought, because craving is exhausted and absent, in the ground of the Hearer, the aspect of having no desire, in this way I am indeed exhausted of defilements, but an Arhat is by no means, this word is a definite meaning, not the only one, is a synonym for this sentence. It is shown like this, whoever wants the Hearer Vehicle, that is, there is the view of self and so on. If it is not like that, in order to pacify the self and to be completely liberated from suffering, it is only not striving. In order to show the wisdom that is clearly desired, Manjushri Bodhisattva Mahasattva, who dwells in the essence of Bodhicitta, and so on, said, 'Who' means 'by whom?' The essence of Bodhicitta has already shown the definition. Dwelling, abiding, becoming without the share of attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, becoming an aspect of not being a vessel, is there?' he asked. 'Aspect' means that it is the order of speaking, but in reality, because it abides in that way at all times, there is no aspect. In response, Manjushri reported, 'Lord, from the aspect of becoming without a share'
