Because it has become like this, as long as there is no direct realization of seeing things as they are, then as long as karma and afflictions are completely transformed by the nature of desire, they will enter into the beginningless cause and effect relationship. The maturation of karma and afflictions is also empty in all ways. Therefore, in the empty dharmas, entering with the nature of cause and effect of emptiness itself is called dependent origination. For example, a magician binds the sight of sentient beings with a magic mantra, and then shows elephants and so on. For those whose sight is bound, the magic elephants and so on become the cause for generating the consciousness of their own appearance. Those consciousnesses also see the magic elephants and so on. The elephants and so on and the consciousnesses enter into a cause and effect relationship, which is called dependent origination. None of these three are actually real. Similarly, for children, because ignorance binds their sight, the dharmas of karma, craftsmanship, and conceptualization are seen like magic elephants and so on. Those dharmas become the cause for generating the consciousness of their own appearance. Those consciousnesses see those dharmas. Therefore, because the external dharmas of conceptualization enter into a cause and effect relationship, they are not actually real. Precisely because of this, dharmas are called without self-nature. If the unconditioned co-emergent of dharmas has some kind of self-nature, then they will arise from their own nature. There is no need to depend on causes and conditions that are other factors to arise. Dependence is also futile, so it will be realized that they have no self-nature. Precisely because of this, it is said: How can something with self-nature arise again? Because self-nature is unconditioned and does not depend on others. Like this. Whatever

Because these do not have inherent existence, therefore it is said that these are without inherent existence. Because of being without inherent existence, it is emptiness. Therefore, the meaning of being without inherent existence is dependent arising, and the meaning of emptiness is said to be dependent arising. As it is said: 'Whatever is dependent arising, you call that emptiness.' When the view of suchness arises, the mantra of ignorance is absorbed and completely pacified, then those phenomena like elephants, and the consciousness that holds them, and dependent arising itself will disappear. Therefore, the emptiness of the container world and so on that abides here is called the great emptiness. Again, the Bodhisattva thinks like this: Emptiness, in terms of the aspect of phenomena, is it existent or non-existent? When contemplating, it will change like this. Just as someone sees a Gandharva city, and the thought of a city arises, later searching and seeing, the thought of the city disappears, and the thought of emptiness arises, when that thought of emptiness arises, it cannot be said that there is a little other thing besides the emptiness of the city. Similarly, here too, from seeing the nature of imputed forms and so on, the thought of phenomena arises, later searching for suchness, seeing with the wisdom of suchness, the thought of phenomena disappears, and the thought of emptiness arises, thus it cannot be said that there is another phenomenon besides emptiness. As it is said: 'To abandon all imputation, therefore emptiness nectar is taught, if there is attachment to that, you are a small eater.' Thus, emptiness cannot be said to be non-existent, because all phenomena are empty, therefore emptiness cannot be said to be existent either. If it is said that there is no other little phenomenon besides the emptiness that has been practiced

This is emptiness, emptiness itself. Emptiness, in this sutra, refers to the emptiness of forms and so on, as understood by the knowledge that perceives them as empty, specifically referring to the emptiness encompassed by the aggregate of consciousness, which is the nature of the inner self. Therefore, it is taught by that very (emptiness). Here, this meaning should be understood. Emptiness also has three aspects: the completely imputed, the other-dependent, and the thoroughly established. Among these, the completely imputed is like a rabbit's horn, not something that can be associated with everything. It is not the nature of what is grasped, nor is it the consciousness that is the grasper. The thoroughly established is the wisdom consciousness that abides in the nature of equality as the object of equality and as the subject that focuses on that object, which is the domain of the Buddhas themselves in all aspects. This refers to the domain of the wisdom that bodhisattvas become thoroughly familiar with, the sixteen aspects of emptiness. For the wisdom of direct realization, the nature of all phenomena being unapprehendable is only one emptiness; it is not one, two, three, and so on. In order to increase the cultivation of the unapprehendability of all phenomena, bodhisattvas individually realize the aspects of emptiness, which have been increased by higher insight, through the wisdom of non-fixation. It is not made manifest by the conceptualization that is the condition of calm abiding. If one asks, "Furthermore, what does calm abiding not give rise to?" The answer is: because the mind becomes disgusted with the intention of not completely abandoning samsara due to compassion. Because the accumulations are not fully complete, it manifests the ultimate extreme and, like a Shravaka, goes into complete nirvana. Therefore, all these perfections are created in conventional truth, like sowing seeds in the sky, they do not produce emptiness. Therefore, this bodhisattva will manifest the ultimate extreme, and compassion will completely prevent it, if this does not change. Thus it is said. It is also said in this very text: "This is the time to become thoroughly familiar, not the time to manifest." Therefore, on the object of meditative equipoise,
