Because it is the cause of attaining Prajñāpāramitā, it is called Prajñāpāramitā itself. Whatever realization becomes a similar cause, this Dharma teaching is also Prajñāpāramitā itself. Therefore, the meaning of Prajñāpāramitā should be understood from its characteristics, what is in accordance with it, and its similar cause. As it is said: Prajñāpāramitā is non-dual, wisdom is the Tathagata, by combining the meaning to be attained, the pure path is sound. Thus it is said. Therefore, this is related to "this is what is said accordingly." What is called "should be examined" refers to listening and thinking, etc. Thus, after generally explaining the practice of Dharma, what is specifically explained is: What is called "should be listened to," etc., what is called "should be kept in mind" is from the aspect of scripture and meaning. Among them, the three types of letter practice that are spoken of are, what is called "should be held," etc., holding is to make it abide in the heart. What is called "should be mastered" means not forgetting. What is called "should be recited," this explains that recitation is the cause of holding and remembering. What is said about the practice of meaning is: What is called "should be understood," is for the sake of grasping the meaning from other aspects, and for the sake of thinking about it oneself in the inner nature from other aspects, it should be understood. This is the practice of meaning from one's own side. What is said for the sake of the meaning of others is: What is called "should be explained extensively," is for the sake of making others broad and correctly clear. What is called "should be taught" is from the aspect of the meaning of the letters that are well held. What is called "should be elucidated" is from the aspect of meaning, through the nature of thinking, generating wisdom. What is called "should be cited" is through learning to recite. What is called "should be chanted" means that the meaning of the letters that are well held also becomes well held, in order to make the holding and meaning more familiar, it should be chanted extensively in the first watch of the night, etc. What is said about writing all of this is the cause: What is called "should be written," refers to when there are obstructing demons, etc., how is this accomplished, what is said is: By the blessings of the Tathagata.

The ground is said to be that writing well and honoring it refers to things like umbrellas and victory banners. To be diligent refers to practice with faith and so on. To remember refers to things like praise and prostration. To make offerings refers to offering flowers, incense, scents, lamps, and food. To draw refers to offering abundant and numerous flowers and so on. To attend and respect refers to making others do everything as well. To honor with any object and so on, to show some things to approximate the meaning, refers to flowers and incense and so on. This is my following instruction and so on, which must be combined with listening and so on. And why do this, because of doubting why to do this, it is said, this is from here and so on. Because of such a great matter, seizing the opportunity to say the entrustment, this is thinking what this is and so on. To attend and serve refers to truly pleasing with perfect intention, with all attendance and respect. Therefore it is said, loving-kindness refers to, for this body refers to my body. Like this, this refers to joy and so on. To entrust refers to truly placing. To entrust following refers to truly entrusting in connection with it. Why entrust this, it is said, this will not disappear, and how and so on. It means, how to make this not disappear, do it that way. Not becoming an inferior person refers to having a careless nature because of not knowing gratitude and so on. And why is it said that there is such a difference of respect for this, as long as and so on. Because one has obtained the undeluded realization of the Dharma from the Buddhas, even when the Tathagata abides, that is the very gateway to the teachings. Therefore, as long as there is the teaching of the Prajnaparamita, there is the Tathagata.

It is actually abiding, just because the Dharma itself is doing those activities. When the Tathagata abides, there are differences in seeing the Tathagata, hearing the unprecedented Dharma, and the Sangha attending, so how can there be no difference? What is said is that those are inseparable, etc. Seeing the Dharmakaya is the main aspect of seeing the Tathagata, and that is also the meaning of being encompassed by the Prajnaparamita. Therefore, it is said: 'Whoever sees me in form, whoever knows me by sound, walking with perverse discrimination, that person cannot see me. One should contemplate the Buddha in the Dharma, the Tathagata is the Dharmakaya.' Hearing the true Dharma without separation is because there is no other Dharma besides the Prajnaparamita, whatever is taught by the Tathagata. Serving the Sangha without separation is like the Sangha being like a friend who obtains the city of Nirvana, and serving them is entering the city of Nirvana. That can be accomplished, and there is only Prajnaparamita. Hearing and upholding the Prajnaparamita, etc., is only acting in front of the Tathagata, because the conduct of abiding in front of the Tathagata is meaningful for seeing the Buddha, etc. Thus, the great Bodhisattva Vajrapani personally heard the Blessed One, and with the phrases, words, and letters, etc., that arose from the Blessed One's glorious face, summarized the contents not taught by the Blessed One, and clearly elucidated and proclaimed them. Thus it is said, etc., thus it is said, is the Prajnaparamita Sutra. Proclamation, is speaking. Blessed One, refers to the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya of the Tathagata. Even so, the sutra commentary says that the Nirmanakaya of the Tathagata is surrounded by monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen, in Rajagriha (capital of the ancient Indian kingdom of Magadha around the 6th century BC, near Patna, Bihar today)
