It is called "Where it has become." If the completely purified dharmas are truly real, then since they already existed before, they will not turn into samsara. However, if all the afflicted dharmas are truly real, then liberation itself will not be achieved. Therefore, these dharmas are completely conceptualized and have the nature of change, which is why it is called the emptiness of all dharmas. As it is said: 'Free from agent and action, empty, like a mirage arising from conditions. Protector, you have clearly shown that all dharmas are without inherent existence.' In this sutra, as it is said: 'Bhagavan, other than manifest realization, the dharmas of the Buddhas or the dharmas of the Bodhisattvas are not objects of focus.' This is what it indicates. Again, as it is said: 'The dharmas of the Buddhas are not seen in the dharmas of the Bodhisattvas.' Shown by knowable things and so on, 'The ten powers and so on are empty.' Thus it is. Again, one should think like this: In inner emptiness, what is said to be unobservable in relation to the self? The unobservable in that, called another dharma, if there were no unobservable, then the self would become observable. But it should also be determined that the unobservable is not another dharma, because if the unobservable were said to exist, then it would become a separate object of focus. Thus, how can the nature of focus be unobservable? Because it is contradictory. That itself is focus, and that itself is unobservable, this is contradictory. But if it is said that there is no focus on the unobservable? In that case, because it has become unobservable, it becomes unobservable. Therefore, the unobservable is not another existing dharma. The absence of focus on the self is the unobservability of this and that, which is the emptiness of unobservability. In this sutra, it is said that for the sake of abandoning the great view of self and the view of sentient beings, the Dharma will be taught, which is said to be peaceful from the root in relation to the self, but its object of focus, called having some Dharma, does not exist. As it is said: I and so on.

When the view of the ground is cut off, what great thing will happen? Therefore, the Blessed One universally proclaimed the selflessness of persons. Furthermore, one should think in this way: all dharmas are said to be of the nature of non-substantiality, therefore, one should consider non-substantiality to be the very nature. Therefore, in order to thoroughly establish non-substantiality, it is said that all dharmas possess the nature of non-substantiality. However, if the dharmas are indeed of the nature of non-substantiality, then it would only be said here that the dharmas do not exist. Therefore, what benefit is gained from this? There is a benefit, because for those who acknowledge that all imputed dharmas do not exist in any way, the statement that those imputed dharmas themselves possess the nature of non-substantiality clarifies existence through a part of the dharmas, therefore this itself is a great benefit. Furthermore, ascertain what is the meaning of the statement that all dharmas are of the nature of non-substantiality? All dharmas refers to the imputed dharmas and the perfectly established dharmas. Among these, the imputed dharmas are said to be completely non-substantial because they do not exist. The perfectly established dharmas are the nature of suchness, therefore, grasping the aspect that is the opposite of things, which is the meaning of non-thingness, thus it is said to be of the nature of non-substantiality. Because of arising, it is a thing. Therefore, conditioned dharmas are called things. The aspect that is the opposite of this, which is not to be spoken of, and which is to be understood individually by one's own wisdom, is called the nature of non-substantiality, and thus it reveals suchness. If that is the case, then this is what is shown through the existence and non-existence of dharmas. As the Blessed One said: Where there is nothing, know that it is empty of that. And also, what remains here, know that it exists here. This is a detailed distinction of the characteristics of the non-substantial nature of all dharmas.
