It should be known that the very nature of the imputed is utterly nonexistent, therefore it should be understood in this way. But children do not understand it in this way, therefore it is easier to become perfectly enlightened in this way. Because existence is grasped, in reality it is completely without substance. Therefore, the intention of the imputed, difficulty in understanding is indeed profound. This is the first saying. In the case of the second, what is said is that because there is no arising, it is difficult to arise, which refers to the very nature of non-existence, that is, the very nature of the other-powered, due to the power of ignorance, the unreal arising, merely the nature of unreal appearance, and understanding it in this way is also the nature of ignorance, therefore it should be abandoned. Children do not understand it in this way, therefore it is easier to become perfectly enlightened in this way. Existing with the nature of delusion, and not understanding how it exists. For this reason, for the other-powered, difficulty in understanding is indeed profound. This is the second saying. In the case of the third, what is said is that because of non-discrimination and non-establishment, it is difficult to arise, which refers to the very nature of the thoroughly established, which is not the nature of discrimination. It is not established by discriminations. Children indulge in the discrimination of the grasper and the grasped, therefore, it is easier to become perfectly enlightened in this way. With the nature of the grasper and the grasped, discrimination is abandoned. The thoroughly established also for this, difficulty in understanding is indeed profound. This is the third saying. This very intention of the Blessed One is clarified by the Venerable Shariputra, that even with the term "emptiness" it is difficult to arise, because it does not exist in the imputed and the other-powered, therefore all phenomena are only the very nature of emptiness. However, children do not understand it in this way, therefore, understanding its nature requires great effort to accomplish, so it is difficult to arise. If a Bodhisattva merely thinks that all phenomena are the nature of non-substance, like space, free from action, then it would be easy. Therefore it is said: Space thinks like this, I... etc.

Therefore, since nothing can be abandoned from the nature of emptiness, the sky, because of which it has passed away. The sky is held. The Bodhisattva is not like that, it is said, such as "Thus." "Thus" means like the sky. The Bodhisattva should fully awaken to the nature of emptiness, which is all phenomena. Since the imputed and the dependent have abandoned its nature, the sky naturally abides in its nature without depending on complete awakening. Therefore, after knowing that there is no complete awakening in all phenomena, one should also engage in the practice of the perfections below. All phenomena will also become completely awakened. This is the meaning of the Bodhi that is difficult to achieve. "If," and so on, is said as follows: If all phenomena are completely non-existent, and are made equal to the sky, then there is no attainment of Bodhi, then it will be easy to do, and it is not difficult. If that were the case, then the Bodhisattvas would not practice the six perfections in the world, and they would not enter into complete awakening because they have not abandoned the concept of objects. Because those who practice with such objects do not have Bodhi, therefore, because they see the complete non-existence in those very phenomena, to awaken completely in those very phenomena is called this extremely difficult practice. Again, in order to easily understand the prophecy of the complete awakening of the venerable Subhuti, it is said that the Bodhisattva turns away from the complete awakening and practices this, such as "And why?" and so on.

Having shown the impossibility of returning through the gate of following in four ways, showing through the gate of reversing that it itself neither makes perfect complete enlightenment nor has anything to become a Buddha, namely: Again, will the form manifest perfect complete enlightenment? and so on. At that time, some will return. If some will manifest perfect complete enlightenment, what does that mean? Perfect complete enlightenment is also like before, after blocking that there is no making perfect complete enlightenment in four ways, the matter of becoming perfectly enlightened is also blocked in four ways, namely: Again, whatever is form, is it to be recognized as the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment? and so on. Thus, having shown the impossibility of entering in four ways, having shown through the gate of following and the gate of reversing, again showing the impossibility of entering itself in two ways, namely: What do you think? and so on. Suchness is said to be with defilements. Now, will the extremely pure, undefiled suchness return? Other than that, will some dharmas return? In any case, what among all dharmas will return? After saying this, in order to establish that it will not return, what is said is: Whatever is the nature of dharma itself, and so on. The way of not abiding in all dharmas, namely, not abiding in all dharmas itself is the means, is the way. Therefore, there is no dharma that abides in the nature of dharma. Suchness alone exists as the ultimate truth. What does that mean? Then, will that ultimate truth that exists return? Namely: Whatever dharma has become suchness, what is that? Like this, it is the mind of arrogance. The nature of non-duality is suchness, and the nature of being separated from duality is also not non-existent like a rabbit's horn, however, non-duality exists. By that very nature, the noble ones each know for themselves, the ultimate truth exists, this is not the nature of a thing. As it is said in the treatise: Non-duality is non-existence, existence is the characteristic of emptiness. It is also said in the Garland of Light:
