Non-regression refers to benefiting its meaning with the certainty of non-regression from complete and perfect enlightenment. How does one abide? It is said that one abides well in a non-abiding manner, that is, whatever abides well in a manner of not fixating on abiding, that is, truly abiding. That itself is abiding in that. This shows that in this practice, with the certainty of non-regression from complete and perfect enlightenment, the very arising is certain. Having explained the practice of not accepting the two extremes in this way, the practice of non-abiding will be explained below, that is, from "Bhagavan, furthermore, Bodhisattva Mahasattva," etc., to the sutra in between "not abiding in consciousness." At the end of the practice of not accepting the two extremes, the end of the sentence "one abides well in a non-abiding manner" should be understood as grasping the practice of non-abiding by occasion, thus connecting them. Not abiding in form, why should one not abide in form? The reason stated by the great ones is, for example: form is empty by its very nature; whatever is the emptiness of form is not form; there is no form other than emptiness, and form itself is emptiness; emptiness is also form. The intention is that one should not abide in form, because form is empty by its very nature. Here, there are three kinds of form: completely imputed form, dependent form, and form of suchness. Whatever is grasped by the characteristics of form, etc., made by ordinary beings such as children, and has the nature of a real thing, that is completely imputed form. That which appears as an object in whatever way in meaning is dependent form. Whatever is separated from those appearances, perfectly accomplished, and is merely suchness, that is the form of suchness. Among them, whatever is this perfectly accomplished form of suchness, that is, the emptiness of the nature of complete imputation, having the characteristic of perfect accomplishment of suchness, that is not form. It is not the nature of form, because

Because in all aspects it is separate from the form and the form's characteristics. If that is the case, if there is no form in any way, then who would say that this is emptiness? Because emptiness apart from an object does not exist. It is also unreasonable for a nature to be other than a dharma, and it is unreasonable for a dharma to be other than a nature. To those who doubt, it should be said: form is not something other than emptiness. What would be said? Just as impure water is called mud in an impure state and water in a pure state. Just as in an impure state the sky is called a bad place, and in a pure state it is called sky. Similarly, this emptiness is also expressed to children in an impure state by sounds such as form that are not separate, and in a pure state it is called emptiness. Therefore, it means that form and other dharmas are not separate from emptiness. Thus, when dharma and dharmata exist inseparably, it is said in a hundred ways that form itself is emptiness. When one wants to express dharma by dharmata, then in a hundred ways it is said that emptiness is form. When one wants to express the dharmata of dharma, then there it is also said that form itself is emptiness, that is, the form of dharmata is emptiness, emptiness alone is form. Emptiness is just like that, it is the form of dharmata that is expressed. At that time, because the forms that are completely imputed and conceptually imputed are completely non-existent, it is not permissible to abide even in the perfectly established, therefore it is said: do not abide in form. Similarly, it should be applied to feelings and so on. Thus, after closely showing the reason for not abiding, the fault of abiding will be shown. Why is that? If one abides in form, that is, because one is not skilled in form, one grasps it in an inappropriate way, and one does not understand the characteristics of the nature of insubstantiality of the dharmas, thinking that I am the nature of form, or this of mine is form, or this is the characteristic of form.

That which is called abiding in form is as follows: it is to practice the manifest activity of form, the conceptualization of form, and the activities that follow, and not to practice the Prajnaparamita that follows the characteristic of emptiness. The faults of practicing manifest activity are also shown, that is, if one practices manifest activity, one is not fully upholding the Prajnaparamita. Why does one fall into self-grasping and grasping at what belongs to self? Because practicing manifest activity does not lead to upholding the Prajnaparamita, does not lead to attaining yoga, does not lead to perfection, and does not lead to liberation. What is called non-attachment is attachment, that is, how does non-attachment become attachment? For example, saying that form is not completely grasped, etc., this is called the proof of non-attachment. This proof is also shown in three ways: non-attachment to Dharma, non-attachment to wisdom, and non-attachment to signs. Among them, the time of non-attachment to Dharma begins with "form is not completely grasped" in the Prajnaparamita and extends to "even omniscience is not completely grasped." The time of non-attachment to signs begins with "it is not grasping at signs" and extends to "even consciousness is not completely grasped." The time of non-attachment to wisdom begins with "for this, wisdom should no longer see joy and happiness" and extends to "it should be known as Prajnaparamita." Among them, first, in the time of non-attachment to Dharma, "form is not completely grasped," this is because, from the perspective of Dharma nature, form is not something that can be completely grasped as form itself by any source that would lead to falling into self-grasping and grasping at what belongs to self. Therefore, practicing manifest activity should not be practicing the practice of ultimate Prajnaparamita.
