And the subsequent instructions will surely lead one to enter into correct practice, therefore, through the completion of the stages of practice spoken by him, one attains complete and perfect enlightenment. We too shall bring these Bodhisattvas into this retinue, giving them advice and instructions, and ensuring that they enter into correct practice. The former, through the stages he has shown us, enables us to understand, thereby attaining complete and perfect enlightenment. Therefore, we, the former Shravakas, should repay the kindness, as it is said. ངོན་གྱི་ means the past. ཚངས་པ་ means Nirvana. Therefore, practice is pure conduct. The phrase "when practicing that" means for the sake of Bodhi, that is, for the meaning of Bodhi. This is a synonym for "practicing the conduct of Bodhi." The phrase "what I" is similar to a verb, signifying the indestructible "how." The word "advice" means to truly uphold what has been advised. The term "ཁ་ད་" means clear speech, which is also explained after ཛ་ and others. The phrase "being advised" means arising from somewhere. The term "དེར་བ་ད་" refers to the object being indicated, because this realm has many meanings. The phrase "should be completely accepted" means should be advised. The phrase "should be completely surrounded" means should be instructed. The subsequent words all have the meaning of truth. The term "we" is because the Shravakas also use the term "self" for those who are of the same kind as themselves. I will tell you. It is explained as "Kaushika, listen." Just as rain falls, water cannot function on three kinds of vessels: water cannot enter a vessel that is face down; in an unclean vessel, it becomes defective upon entering; and in a vessel with a hole in the bottom, it cannot stay. Similarly, even if the rain of Dharma falls on the three mental vessels of the listener, the water of the Dharma of the speaker cannot function. In situations where one is distracted by not hearing, etc., the water cannot enter; in situations where one engages in improper attention, it will be destroyed upon entering; and in situations where memory is forgotten, it cannot stay.

It is so. The three faults are mentioned for the purpose of elimination, please listen carefully and keep them in mind. This means, do not become the three faults of listening to the Dharma, listen to the Dharma with respect. How to abide? This is said to answer Indra's previous question. How to abide? It refers to the emptiness of all dharmas. Abiding in emptiness is abiding in Prajnaparamita, which is the nature of understanding the path. Because emptiness and Prajnaparamita have the same nature. By prohibiting abiding, it is shown that one abides in Prajnaparamita, therefore it says "therefore" and so on. Not clinging to all dharmas is the great armor of the Bodhisattva, and the clinging to abiding in it is explained in three ways: one should not abide in dharmas, this is the first; one should not abide in the nature of dharma, this is the second; one should not abide in individuals, this is the third. There are also two ways to practice the Dharma: preaching the Dharma and practicing the nature of the Dharma. Among them, starting from "one should not abide in form" until "one should not abide in the Buddha himself", this is preaching the Dharma. Similarly, "form" should not be abided in, until "thus the Buddha" should not be abided in, this is explaining the nature of the Dharma. "Form is permanent and impermanent" should not be abided in, starting from here, until "the Buddha himself is distinguished by the unconditioned" should not be abided in, this is explaining the nature of the Dharma. Starting from "the stream-enterer is the place of giving" until "the complete Nirvana of the Buddha will attain Nirvana" ends, this is explaining the individual. Among them, for prohibiting abiding in the Dharma, starting from form until one should not abide in consciousness, this is prohibiting abiding in all defiled dharmas. One should not abide in the fruit of stream-entry, etc., this is prohibiting abiding in pure dharmas. In some sutras, after one should not abide in consciousness, there is one should not abide in the eye.
