The discourse in between. This rational proof is shown in two ways: completely abandoning the non-means and approaching the means. Among them, the non-means is clinging to characteristics. The explanation of this starts from "If clinging to form" and ends with "It should be known as unskilled means." If clinging to form refers to clinging to the nature of the completely imputed. If clinging, then when clinging to the appearance of "This is form," one abandons the absence of characteristics and clings to characteristics. Whenever one abandons this form and clings to the characteristics of form, then one takes characteristics as real, and due to clinging, it becomes the act of clinging to characteristics. If one separately clings to the characteristics of form in relation to form, then the act of clinging to characteristics is the act of clinging to characteristics, that is, regarding the nature of form itself as a characteristic and clinging to it. This is what is said. If one clings to the characteristics of form, then it is still the act of clinging to characteristics, which means clinging to characteristics. Similarly, the arising of form refers to arising from not having arisen, cessation refers to disappearing after arising, and decay refers to the disintegration of each moment. Then, even if form is emptiness, it also explains clinging to the absence of characteristics, that is, clinging to characteristics. If one thinks that form is emptiness and clings to this emptiness, this is also the act of clinging to characteristics. If someone thinks in this way, that is, clinging in this way, then it is clinging from the perspective of the cessation of characteristics such as form, and clinging to the nature of the cessation of characteristics itself. Unskilled in means refers to attaining the result of omniscient wisdom, and properly attending to the nature of the completely imputed is the means. Wisdom without imputation is also considered to be the nature of other-powered, merely a false appearance. When the nature of delusion disappears, it appears as two and two, and the non-existent nature, that is, the completely imputed and other-powered nature with common characteristics, appears first because it does not match its own characteristics.

As it is said: He understands each meaning separately, the three characteristics at once are: complete knowledge, abandonment, and attainment, desired in their respective order. Complete knowledge is non-apprehension here, abandonment is the desire for non-appearance, in the power of close apprehension, attainment is the act of manifestation. Since the words of the two are non-apprehension, it becomes non-dual discrimination. Because of being separate from discrimination, it is established, and non-duality is realized. The elephant is non-apprehension, and its form is extremely separate, the close apprehension in the field, how is it like an illusion all at once? Thus it is said. After that, by the subsequent knowledge, if the seed of habituation, which is the other-dependent and unceasing, appears again, then even on the path of seeing, the nature of seeing is known as the nature of emptiness itself. Therefore, it is said to those who enter into non-discrimination. A Bodhisattva who abides in the realm of non-discrimination sees all phenomena equal to the sphere of the sky of non-discriminating wisdom, which is inseparable from the knowable. Afterwards, he sees phenomena equal to the obtained illusion, mirage, dream, appearance, barren woman, image, moon in water, and emanation. Thus, in the realm of phenomena to be directly realized, by being free from defilement, in the Buddha-land, it is the nature of omniscience. Why is it called seeing emptiness for those who have not transcended the nature of the imputed, which is clinging to signs? It is because of being unskilled in means. Now, it is said that reasoning is established by the teachings themselves, saying: "O Shariputra, if..." The establishment of means also has two aspects: the practice of not apprehending phenomena and the practice of apprehending signs. Among them, the first is: "O Shariputra, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not practice in form," and so on, up to "he practices in the Perfection of Wisdom." The second is said: "He practices, even though he practices," etc. This also shows the seven aspects of not being arrogant about the practice of non-signs. "Not closely discriminating" means not grasping.
