And, that which relies on consciousness, perception, formations, and consciousness, is called "I." For example, after seeing the appearance of form, etc., the thought arises, "This sentient being or I have a good or bad appearance." Similarly, after seeing the formations pervaded by pleasure and suffering, the thought arises, "This or I possess pleasure or possess suffering." Thus, after seeing the formations with names, the thought arises, "This or I am of the royal caste or Brahmin caste, giving the Buddha with words or a virtuous spiritual friend." After seeing the formations that are separate from virtuous and non-virtuous actions, the thought arises, "This or I am wise or learned." After seeing the consciousness that follows the object, the thought arises, "This or I have seen this." Therefore, my mind is the object of the five aggregates. Furthermore, is the thought called "I" grasping the meaning of direct perception, or is it grasping the meaning of inference? In the first case, the aggregates such as form are themselves directly perceived, not other sentient beings. It is also not grasping the meaning of inference, because even for children and infants, even if not explicitly taught, they suddenly intervene, so those who say "I" admit the harm of "I," therefore it is not grasping by inference either. Although these consciousnesses are conventional truths, they appear profound and profound, and the Buddha, the Bhagavan, alone directly knew and directly realized them himself, thereby fully understanding them. The Bhagavan himself mostly knows what is the cause of these views, what is the ultimate truth, what is the result, what is the metaphor, what is the liberation, what will arise, and all the aspects and teachings of these. Others are not able to predict these views in this way. Similarly, among the eternal, etc., that are being explained, "I" is the sentient world. "World" refers to the container world. "Eternal" itself is true, others are ignorance, and "impermanent" itself is true.

The others are ignorance. How does the view of "permanent" and so on arise? Here, some ascetics or Brahmins, through external paths, generate the recollection of previous states, and are able to remember many kalpas, or many hundreds of kalpas, or many hundreds of thousands of births, or many thousands of births. However, they are not skilled in dependent origination, and they do not truly understand the past formations, only remembering them. They can only see the difference between perception and feeling, but they cannot see the difference in self-nature. Therefore, they become such viewers: 'I and the world are permanent.' Or, relying on the divine eye, they cannot truly understand the continuous destruction of momentary formations, and they think that the things that arise now are what were previously accumulated. They cannot understand the continuity of consciousness going from this world to another world. For subtle and permanent things, they can distinguish coarse matter from subtle things, and they see the subtle stage as being close to dwelling. Therefore, they become like this accordingly. 'I and the world are permanent,' some people will think like this. 'I and the world are impermanent,' how does this view arise? There are beings called the gods of non-perception, and those beings die and transfer when perception arises. Some of them, when dying and transferring, obtain supernatural powers and can remember previous perceptions. Then they tell others, and therefore it becomes like this: 'This world is impermanent.' Or some people boast themselves, being in the position of ordinary people, and speak with the power of speculation, 'The world is impermanent.' Some people also think like this, 'I and the world are permanent and impermanent.' How does this view arise? Here, when the world is destroyed, most beings will be born in the gods of clear light. Then, in the world that is about to be born, beings die from there and transfer to the Brahma palace. Then, that being who has become solitary will dwell there for a long time.

I will transform in this way. Other sentient beings will also be born here. After that, their lifespan will be exhausted, and they will die and transfer from there to another Brahma world. For them, it will also become like this: we are Brahma, the creator, and the emanation. For him, it will also become like this: I am the creator of these. After they die and transfer from the Brahma world, they generate supernormal knowledge, see Brahma, and become such a view: Brahma is eternal, while we are impermanent. Similarly, there are gods called "fond of playing," and some of them indulge in the joy of playing, and their mindfulness is completely lost, so they die and transfer from there. After generating supernormal knowledge, they see those gods and say this: those who have not obtained the joy of playing for a long time are eternal, while we are impermanent. Similarly, for those who create mental faults, after extremely creating mental faults, like the previous death transfer, they will know this: they are eternal, while we are impermanent. Furthermore, others, by the power of reasoning, consider form, sound, smell, taste, and touch to be impermanent, while mind, intellect, and consciousness are impermanent. Thus, through these four ways, they will become such a view that eternity and impermanence, self and world. There are also some who are attached to various letters, but in reality, they are not various meanings. They will become such a view: the self and the world are neither eternal nor impermanent, and the self and the world are finite, and so on. In any case, these views will arise. This is because some worldly people rely on smaller meditation, thereby generating the divine eye, and see the sentient world and the container world with boundaries in the lower, upper, and horizontal directions. For them, it will become like this: it is finite. Others rely on larger meditation, so they do not see boundaries in the lower, upper, and horizontal directions. For them, it will become like this:
