English

The term "giving up" means to completely abandon, because it is giving without expectation. A Dharma speaker will not speak because they lack faith, do not seek wealth, and are stingy with the Dharma. "Subhuti, again," and so on, refers to those who wish to hear the sutras. The term "becoming an obstacle to the Dharma" means that an obstacle to the Dharma is the lack of assembly, and therefore the inability to hear. Because it exists here, it becomes an obstacle to the Dharma, by its very nature. The term "is there not" does not mean that it will exist. The term "does not enter" does not mean that it will come from elsewhere. The term "unobtained Dharma" refers to not having obtained a Dharma speaker. The term "speaking discordant words" refers to speaking discordant words. Hearing suffering and not generating revulsion, and proclaiming obstacles, i.e., "Subhuti, again," and so on. The term "proclaiming the unpleasantness of sentient beings in hell" refers to hell, which is characterized by extreme heat and other sufferings. The place of birth of animals is characterized by the suffering of mutual devouring and so on. Those who have the suffering of hunger and thirst are the pretas. Those who have the suffering of being oppressed by pride are the asuras. Those who have the suffering of birth and so on are all conditioned phenomena. The term "Subhuti, this also" refers to that which arises from revulsion. The term "deeds of Mara" refers to revulsion due to suffering. Because the Shravakas and others completely enter Nirvana from Nirvana, even the enjoyments of the gods are shown to be close to the suffering of conditioned existence, so that revulsion easily arises, and obstacles are proclaimed, i.e., "again," and so on. The term "accomplishing in existence" refers to the divisions of existence, i.e., the characteristics of realms, destinies, and places of birth. The term "Subhuti, thus also," and so on, the deeds of Mara are numerous, completely abandoned by the Buddhas, and the reason why Mara is diligent towards them is explained, i.e., "Subhuti, again," and so on. Mara comes in the guise of a renunciate, the fault of abandoning due to doubt. "Subhuti, again," and so on, refers to transforming into the guise of a monk.

To prophesy inferior enlightenment for those who practice Dharma done by demons is a fault. From "Thus, Subhuti" until the end of the chapter, four meanings are spoken: the multitude of demonic activities, their cause, being frightened by them, small-mindedness, and how demons diligently engage in these, just as all Buddhas embrace Bodhisattvas. In this chapter, all the words we have spoken are seen in previous texts. The six faults should also be understood, along with the fourteenth. This is added here because the words of great ones are seen, such as these many kinds. Demonic activities and their nature are obstacles, and the chapter that clarifies them is that chapter, the eleventh chapter. The Prajñāpāramitā is what generates all Buddhas, so why would all the Tathāgatas obstruct it even with their minds? To accomplish this and to especially show faith, an example is given: "For example," etc. "There are many children," etc., shows that the mother's intention towards one and many children is equal, and the cause of the mother's suffering is "if the mother becomes an obstacle," that is, when the mother becomes an obstacle. "Abiding in contact" means fully enjoying contact. "Unpleasant" means not pleasing, because it is the cause of suffering. Here, the cause of suffering itself is spoken of, that is, "by this," holding well and grasping means very flourishing, if it flourishes. How does it flourish? That is, how will it flourish? Hiding is protecting. Taming is purifying, that which takes away disease. The sound of taming is nectar, etc. "Touched by suffering" means the mental touch born from the collection of objects, faculties, and consciousness, which is also the cause of suffering, so it is suffering. A detailed classification is spoken of: eye or

Because there is no intention of the Buddha, there is no copying, etc. The so-called "Tathagata" refers to the Bhagavan Shakyamuni.
