With the cessation of ignorance, consciousness, name, form, the six sense sources, contact, and feeling cease; therefore, there is no pervasive affliction of maturation. With the cessation of feeling, grasping ceases; with the cessation of grasping, there is no pervasive affliction of affliction. With the cessation of grasping, birth, aging, and death cease; therefore, there is no pervasive affliction of birth. Pervasive affliction is suffering; therefore, the very absence of affliction demonstrates the quality of the absence of suffering. The term "mastery" means that worldly beings are under the control of those (afflictions), and one can make worldly beings free or pleasing, or one can place the minds of those beings under control or attain mastery, hence it is called mastery. Because masteries are of four kinds: mastery over miraculous powers, mastery over faculties, mastery over samadhi, and mastery over wisdom. Among these, mastery over miraculous powers makes all sentient beings and the world of objects subject to their control. Mastery over the faculties brings about the pleasing of worldly beings through the pacification of conduct. Mastery over samadhi controls the mind. Mastery over wisdom completely cuts off all afflictions, actions, and maturation, and is thus truly liberated from bondage, hence attaining mastery. The term "mind utterly liberated" indicates that all pervasive afflictive dharmas on the side of craving are absent. The term "wisdom utterly liberated" indicates that there is no aspect of ignorance. Thus, because the mind is liberated from attachment, it is called mind utterly liberated. Because wisdom is liberated from ignorance, it is called wisdom utterly liberated. Among these, the attainment of samadhi and equipoise, which are to be attained by abandoning the afflictions and near afflictions on the side of existence, is called mind liberation. The knowledge of the path of the Arhat, which is to be attained by abandoning all afflictions, is called wisdom liberation. Among these, the mind
