Also. The five aggregates, which are without inherent existence like an illusion, are called Bodhisattva, which is consciousness. Therefore, the Bodhisattva is merely an illusory being, which is the meaning of the summary. Here, too, the previous assertion is presented as an answer, that is, with this intention, Subhūti inquired. "That," and so on. In some places, it is asked in this way, which means that the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Sugata, immediately knows it as it is. "That" refers to the fact that the Bodhisattva is shown to be an illusory being, so the Bodhisattva studies the Prajñāpāramitā because he has a mind. An illusory being is not, because it is devoid of mind. "Like an illusory being" means to see oneself as an emanation of a magician. However, if the aggregates that are counted by the Bodhisattva are without inherent existence, then what is this mind that is possessed here? By changing the meaning of "like" in "like an illusory being," the delusion of the aggregates is the one who possesses the mind here, not the aggregates, etc. By the statement "There is no delusion about an illusory being," the Bodhisattva, who is extremely non-existent, studies the extremely non-existent dharmas with a yoga that does not depend on anything, that is, he studies perfect enlightenment, which is a close indication. Why is that? Because, "that" refers to why the Bodhisattva is seen as an illusory being? "Please hold" means "Please confirm." Form is like an illusion, because form has the nature of being without substance. Which one is that? It refers to which one is similar to which one, which one is combined with the birth of which one, the meaning of the nature of illusion. The six sense organs of the same kind are the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The reason why the six sense organs are also said to be self-consciousness is because it is said in this way. That, refers to becoming like that.

It means 'like an illusion'. Similarly, the treatises on feelings and so on should be explained. Those who have attained this nature of all phenomena being devoid of substance, and who are particularly devoted, will not have any exhaustion. Those who are newly entering the vehicle are likely to have fear and so on. Therefore, it is taught to them to be single-mindedly devoted to completely abandoning them, and it is said to separate occasions skillfully. 'Bhagavan' and so on. The new ones are those who have truly entered the supreme vehicle. Fear and so on have already been explained. What means for this fear and so on has the Blessed One taught there? He shows skillful means in two ways: completely abandoning evil friends and relying on virtuous friends. If one falls into the hands of evil friends, one will become afraid. Because it is possible to show the faults of evil friends, one should completely abandon them. By completely abandoning evil friends, he shows skillful means, that is, one should recognize virtuous friends and so on. The skillful means of relying on virtuous friends that are taught is that Subhuti asks about the characteristics of virtuous friends, that is, 'Which ones?' The answer is 'Those'. Showing the works of the demons nearby means that here the faults of the demons are also the works of the demons. Because they arise from the actions of the demons and because they are the nature of the actions themselves. How does he show it nearby? He says, 'Like this' and so on. The actions of the body and so on of the Bodhisattvas and so on that arise from the blessings of the demons are the faults of the demons. 'Like this' means that they should be known by interrupting the practice of Bodhi. 'The faults of the demons are these' means what I have said. 'The work of the demons' means that the demons themselves transform into the form of the Buddha and so on, and show the path that is not the true path. 'These' means the Bo-

Those should be understood by means of being completely separated from the practice of bad states. The term "these" refers to those that I have shown you, namely, the actions of demons are twofold. The word "is" here is related to the meaning of "showing." Thus, one is skilled in the method of relying on a virtuous friend. It concludes with "these are," and so forth. The term "having rightly entered" refers to immediately abiding in the Great Vehicle, which does not arise from anything else, but is shown through a definitive distinction. Now, if one asks, what is the certainty in this teaching? It should be said: Regarding this, with "Whatever you are, speak boldly," and so forth, the Tathagata, who made definite connections for Subhuti, what was the initial occasion that was opened, and here the occasion is opened. That determination is also of two kinds: the meaning of the basis and the definition. Among these, what is the meaning of the basis of the term "Bodhisattva"? What is the meaning of the basis of "Great Being"? How does one don the great armor? How does one rightly enter the Great Vehicle? How does one abide in the Great Vehicle? How does one become the Great Vehicle? From where does that vehicle definitely arise? Where will that vehicle abide? From where will this Great Vehicle definitely arise? And, having subdued the world with gods, humans, and asuras, how will one definitely arise in the vehicle? Is that vehicle equal to space? Is it the Great Vehicle that is in accordance with the Perfection of Wisdom? The Bodhisattva does not accept the limits of the past and the present? Since form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are all completely limitless, therefore, one should know that the Bodhisattva is completely limitless? Form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are the Bodhisattva; such a thing is neither existent nor visible? Therefore, I, with all of everything, in every way of everything, that dharma, that dharma
