It is not. The Blessed One said, 'Subhuti, it is not.' Therefore, giving and so forth, conditioned virtues and so forth, are also faulty because of attachment; and the ultimate virtue that cannot be expressed, the unconditioned cessation, is said to be emptiness because of its faultless nature of non-attachment. As it is said: 'Because there is no increase or decrease of the faulty and the faultless, all virtues of the conditioned and unconditioned are extinguished.' Like this. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva should think like this: If all dharmas are emptiness, then, for which sentient beings, in the beginningless cycle of rebirth, revolving in the three times, whose mental activities do you know, and are called the Blessed One, the All-Knowing One? They exist in the three times. Furthermore, it should be determined like this: a single sentient being has three ends and three names, namely, future, present, and past. If sentient beings truly exist, then there should only be one name. Therefore, the past end is also beyond ends. Similarly, it is the same for both. Its emptiness is the emptiness beyond ends. As it is said: 'For the sake of benefiting sentient beings forever.' Furthermore, one should think like this: 'For children, samsara is long.' The Blessed One said, 'Monks, this samsara is without beginning or end.' Therefore, samsara exists. Because it exists, samsara and through it, all dharmas exist, is this established? Again, it should be determined like this: the word samsara does not refer to the existence of some dharmas, but rather to the words 'without beginning and end.' If the word samsara refers to something that exists, then its beginning should also exist, and its end should also exist. The existence of something without beginning and without end has not been seen. Or, if the beginning and end do not exist, then is it because the middle is not obstructed, so it exists? How can there be a middle for something that has no beginning and no end? Depending on the beginning and end

From... to the center is called existence. If samsara does not exist, where do sentient beings revolve? Samsara itself does not exist in the ultimate sense. If someone falls into samsara, will they become permanent or impermanent? Permanence is not samsara because it does not change, so samsara is unreasonable. Impermanence is also not samsara, because where will samsara arise for things that perish moment by moment? As it is said: There is no permanent samsara, there is no samsara for impermanence. Samsara is spoken of as like a dream. You can realize that this is the most excellent wisdom. Therefore, because there is no beginning and no end, the so-called samsara does not exist. That is the emptiness without beginning and end. These two emptinesses are in this sutra, Kauśika, if the Tathagata lives for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, and keeps saying sentient beings, sentient beings, will some sentient beings arise or perish there? Indra replied: No. It is indicated by these words. No birth and no death, or, the words sentient beings, etc., clarify. For sentient beings and samsara, therefore emptiness is truly revealed. It is also said: Do not abandon the meaning of samsara. That's it. Think again, if all good dharmas are empty, then how can the Blessed One abide in samsara until the end with the perfect enjoyment body? Therefore, when the Blessed One attains Nirvana, there are indeed good dharmas. As it is said: The Tathagata is the corresponding cause of merit, and the roots of virtue will not be wasted. Therefore, abandonment is to encourage, so other conditioned dharmas have abandonment, but good dharmas have the nature of not abandoning. Determine again, Nirvana itself does not exist temporarily, so how can those who rely on it not be wasted? Because Nirvana is the characteristic of all non-existence, it cannot be established as another dharma by anything. Therefore

Nirvana, cessation, and the causes such as the near pacification of all formations are described by terms. However, if it exists, why wouldn't the arising of formations occur in the absence of Nirvana? Therefore, if it is said that there exists a Dharma, Nirvana, that prevents their arising, then this is not reasonable, because the so-called Nirvana of formations does not exist at all, because for permanent dharmas, there is no change at any time. For impermanent dharmas, even the smallest things do not have arising. Therefore, Nirvana does not do anything for things that do not arise by their own nature. However, if it changes again, will it hinder the arising of other formations in its continuum? This also does not exist, because the afflictions and the seeds of the aggregates of the supramundane path have been completely burned, so they will not arise again. The name Nirvana is applied to that which does not arise by its own nature. Therefore, even according to the view of the Hearers, the so-called Nirvana is not another Dharma, let alone the view of the emptiness school? Since there is no Nirvana, therefore, the non-existence of the nature of not abandoning virtue that depends on it is called the emptiness of non-abandonment. How is it said in the Mother of the Buddhas? Subhuti, whatever merit the Bodhisattvas accumulate is also called emptiness. Therefore, it is for this reason that the emptiness of the general virtue is said to be inexhaustible, and also the emptiness of the nature of non-abandonment. As it is said in the sutra: In the emptiness of virtue, that which goes is not mixed, thus, permanence is the distinction, where is that in emptiness? Again, the Bodhisattva should think like this: If all dharmas are emptiness, then the dharmas such as desire that are the nature of sentient beings, and the thoughts, habits, and special beliefs such as desire that are the nature of sentient beings
