It is the sound of emptiness. Its proclamation is the teaching, which is the adornment of things for oneself. The very proclamation of the lion's roar is the meaning of understanding the Prajnaparamita by teaching emptiness. However, the Blessed One has seen various teachings of the Prajnaparamita, but it is not merely the essence of emptiness, because all dharmas are not confused. Non-confusion is the very doubt of not being other. This is the meaning of speaking in the manner of ultimate truth. If there are other teachings in the sutras, but those are all conventional truths, and in the manner of ultimate truth, only emptiness is taught. These contents are numerous in words here, and were not quoted in previous scriptures, because that would make the questioners become lax. It is from those very scriptures that they are quoted again, such as "Subhuti, form is like the ocean," etc. However, some people think that the characteristics of Prajnaparamita are explained by "the ocean is boundless," etc., and those characteristics do not fail to appear on form, etc. Otherwise, Prajnaparamita would not be pervasive. Therefore, considering that those characteristics will also appear on form, etc., because of the doubt "Why is that?" it is said: "Subhuti, form is..." etc. Just like the essence of emptiness and boundlessness, Prajnaparamita is like the ocean, similarly, the five aggregates such as form are also like the ocean, just like what Prajnaparamita is, and what form, etc. are, these are all of one nature. Just like the nature of emptiness, this is its meaning. Similarly, one should also understand like space, etc. After saying "consciousness is various Mount Meru," form is like the appearance of the rays of the sun's disc.

It is said that this statement has been seen in previous books. This is reasonable. However, how is it reasonable? Previous dharmas, such as the ocean, etc., because they are without limit, are shown, showing that those dharmas are also the same, such as "form is like the ocean" etc. After the various images of Mount Sumeru, it was previously said "because form has no limit" etc. Therefore, here also it is said "like Mount Sumeru" etc., after this, whatever is seen saying "form is like without limit" etc., that is reasonable. Form etc., just as it was mainly shown before, form becomes to say "form is like form". There, it cannot be said "the same as it". Therefore, it should not be said like this, i.e. "how it is seen from many previous books" etc. Form is separated from accumulating good and non-good dharmas, meaning that separation from accumulation is complete separation from emptiness, because only form is its own nature. Therefore, form is like the creation of good and non-good dharmas, that is its meaning. "Form is separate" etc., up to "what is the Buddha's dharma". Whatever those Buddha's dharmas are, all those themselves are form, because they are nominally established without difference, so it means like the Buddha's dharma. What is form also separated from? It is emptiness, that itself is the nature of form. That itself is the suchness of form. The emptiness of form means that here it is expressed by the word form. Form is emptiness means: emptiness is the nature of the limitless dharma nature. Form arises from the activity of the mind, meaning that the activity of the mind is the activity of grasping. Its arising is the same as that which is nominally established without difference. Up to non-apprehension, meaning that, as previously said, "form is separate, the nature of form and the suchness of form".

That which is called "suchness" is an intermediate term relative to what is said. Form means separation, as well as the self-nature of form, as well as the suchness of form, as well as the non-apprehension of form, and because good and non-good are not different, it has the meaning of being similar to that. Subhuti, it means "thus it is." "Thus it is" means how this Perfection of Wisdom, the nature of all-knowingness and the knowledge of the path, the two that were previously taught, are also briefly shown in this chapter in such a similar way. "Should be known accordingly" means should be sought accordingly. What should be done after that? What is said is: "Those who should be known accordingly," which means that it can be heard through the collection of letters. "Those who should practice" means that it can be known through the body of meaning. "Entering" means becoming faith. "Those who cause to realize" means that through mindfulness being present, the scriptures and meanings abide in this person's mind at all times. "Attention" means that because the meanings that are spoken of abide near at all times in numerical order. "Measuring" means that the meaning is measured by reason. "Close attainment" means that only through this can all doubts be cut off, so it will hold "this is that." "Will cultivate" means from the outside. Abandoning the faults that obstruct cultivation are "cause" and so on. Among them, "illusion" means that even though one is not a practitioner, one shows it so closely to others for the sake of gain and respect. "Deceit" means that even though one has the ability, one does not accomplish it accordingly. "Laziness" means being very attached to things that have a high voice. "All conceit" means the present clinging to "I" and "those" and "form" and "feeling." The word "conceit" comes from the root "yuza" ending in "niza." Therefore, it is "conceit." Praising oneself means that oneself is not distracted, ordained, has a good appearance, is pleasing, is learned, and so on. Belittling others means that others are born from inferior castes, and are not learned no matter what, and so on.
