Therefore, other than pillars and so on, this is not taken as self, so how could it become substantially existent? Therefore, the nature of the completely imputed is nominally existent, while the dependent is substantially existent. Both are conventionally existent. The thoroughly established is ultimately existent, but not substantially existent. This was spoken by the venerable Asanga in the Treatise on Distinguishing the Provisional and the Definitive. Is suchness not profound? In the state of being with defilements, it cannot be said to be different or not different from forms and so on, therefore it is profound. Does suchness have mind? If one asks, what kind of compounded mind has the nature of a support and a supported together with suchness? The answer is: No. This means that the completely imputed and the thoroughly established do not have the nature of a support and a supported. Is mind suchness? If one asks, what kind of compounded mind is the nature of suchness? The answer is: No. Because it is with defilements, it is not the very nature of suchness, this is a separate answer. Is it different from suchness? If one asks, is the compounded mind different from suchness? The answer is: No. Because the completely imputed cannot be said to be the same or different from the thoroughly established, this is a separate answer. Have you truly seen suchness? If one asks presumptuously, has this mind truly seen all phenomena? The answer is: No. Because in the state of suchness, there is no nature of an object to be focused on and a subject that focuses, this is a separate answer. Does one practice in the profound? It means that the practice of suchness, which is like that, can only be obtained through reason as profound. Does it not practice anything at all? This is to show that there is no practice on it. Practice refers to characteristics in the object of focus. Not entering means not changing. No practice

The so-called "is" is not an appearance. However, in order to pursue perfect Bodhi, one should practice in some way or another, otherwise, one will not attain perfect Bodhi because the two accumulations are not complete. As it is said in the sutras, such as "How does Subhuti Bodhisattva Mahasattva practice?" etc., it refers to practicing on the ultimate truth, etc. However, "not practicing anywhere" is what Subhuti said immediately after, so it is said "How to practice on the ultimate truth?" The meaning is that there is no real practice on the two, practicing on the ultimate truth as "existence" or "non-existence." Because of this practice, and because there is no real practice on the two, it is said "not practicing anywhere." Because there is no real practice on the two, it needs to be accomplished through many efforts, so it is said "practicing on the ultimate truth," so there is no fault. In order to clarify that this non-dual nature is the practice of the ultimate truth, it is said: "Practicing on the ultimate truth, is it practicing on the characteristic?" It refers to the characteristic of duality or the characteristic of non-duality. The answer "no" means that it is not on the characteristic of duality, nor on the characteristic of non-duality. "That characteristic" refers to the characteristic of duality and non-duality. "Is it destroyed?" is asking what will happen if it is destroyed? For the statement "not destroyed anywhere," one can also ask "Is it not destroyed? What is not destroyed?" This is what it means. Somewhere it is said that "that characteristic is completely destroyed," for this, for the characteristic, this complete destruction itself is what makes things non-existent, and there is no understanding of this principle. "No" means that the characteristic will be destroyed, because there is no universal practice for such discrimination, so the answer is given separately. In this way, because the characteristic is destroyed, there is no such discrimination and universal practice, and because of the power of the samadhi of no characteristic, one's own characteristic is not universally practiced, to this, the Venerable Subhuti denies it with "no."

To clarify dwelling in the essence, the Blessed One spoke, such as "What do you think?" etc. How does the refutation of signs become a refutation? "Practicing signs" means that if the discriminating mind is universally applied to this, that is the meaning. Bodhisattvas should not act in this way, etc., the meaning is: The so-called practice of signs is to universally apply discriminating mind, and also not to apply signs by the power of signless samadhi, and the Bodhisattva who will surely emerge from the three great asamkhyeya kalpas and complete the two accumulations, if the Bodhisattvas also do not universally apply signs to the grounds such as the Joyful Ground, which are truly held by non-discriminating wisdom, but this is not abandoning signs in all cases, but in order to universally apply the wisdom that is born later. If again the Bodhisattva who has completed the accumulation of merit does not become certain to emerge in the first asamkhyeya kalpa, it is also because he strives to abandon signs in every way in this life, he will fall into the Shravaka Bodhi, how can he become the perfect Bodhi here? This is also said to the ordinary Bodhisattva who has not yet attained the ground. The noble one will transcend those who do not possess the merits of the Shravaka Bodhi and the Pratyekabuddha Bodhi, etc., on the first ground itself, which refers to the exposition of the ten grounds, etc. These are for summarizing. "What is the mind" refers to the object of the mind. "What is a sign" refers to the exposition in a certain place. "Its meaning is also this." "What is the nature" refers to what is the self-nature. "What is a sign" refers to its cause. All of these, the so-called complete familiarity with signlessness, is just getting used to it. Practicing in dreams, etc., taking the profound place as a temporary place, mainly refers to the three states of the two states.
