Because of you. Lack of diligence is due to lack of entry. Lack of faith is due to the instability of joy and desire for perfect enlightenment. Lack of skill in means is because all merits have not been dedicated to perfect enlightenment through formless practice. Relying on bad friends is because of properly attending to those who do not correctly show the approach to formless conduct. World Honored One, how difficult it is to arise, and so on, the meaning is this: Because all phenomena are without substance, it is not difficult to realize the nature of non-substance. It is difficult to individually realize the characteristics of existing phenomena as they are. It is not so for non-existent phenomena, merely knowing that there is no substance. In practice, for existing phenomena, in order to increase white dharmas and abandon black dharmas, the practice of paramitas and so on will be cultivated. Because these phenomena are not existent, practice is also not difficult. Therefore, arising is easy, which is called perfect enlightenment. The World Honored One's answer is non-arising, and so on. The nature of all phenomena is threefold: the completely imputed nature, the dependent nature, and the perfectly established nature. Among these, the first is to be understood, the second is to be abandoned, and the third is to be realized. Among them, with regard to the first, what is said is that because there is no arising, it is difficult to arise, meaning that the completely imputed nature is completely non-existent, so it should be understood in this way. Children do not understand it in this way, therefore, it is easy to manifest perfect enlightenment in this way. Because it is grasped by existence, it is the nature of complete non-substance. Therefore, the desire of complete imputation, the difficulty of realization is profundity. This is what is said. With regard to the second, what is said is that because there is no arising, it is difficult to arise, meaning that this non-existent nature is the nature of dependence, due to the power of ignorance, the unreal arises, merely the nature of unreal appearance, and the nature of ignorance should also be understood in this way.

Because it is to be abandoned. Children do not understand it that way. Therefore, how can one easily attain perfect enlightenment? Existing with the nature of delusion, how knowledge exists is non-existent. Because that nature is dependent on others, difficult to understand is profound. That is what is said. Speaking from the perspective of the third person: Because of non-discrimination and non-embellishment, it is difficult to arise, which means that the nature of the perfectly established is not the nature of discrimination. It is not embellished by discriminators. Children engage in the discrimination of the grasped and the grasper, therefore, in this way, it is easier to attain perfect enlightenment. With the nature of the grasped and the grasper, discrimination is abandoned. The perfectly established, for that, difficult to understand is profound. That is what is said. This intention of the Blessed One is clarified by the Venerable Shariputra, and with the term emptiness, it is also difficult to arise, which means that because it does not exist in the completely imputed and the dependent, all phenomena are only the nature of emptiness. However, children do not understand it that way, therefore, from understanding that nature, it must be cultivated with great effort, so it is difficult to arise. If all phenomena are the nature of non-substantiality, and the bodhisattva exists like space, separate from action, it would become easy. That is what is said: Space thinks like this, what I have done, etc., space is from the nature of emptiness, not abandoned by anything, because of what is it empty? Space is held. The bodhisattva is not like that, that is what is said: Like that, etc., like that is like space. The nature of emptiness, all phenomena must also be perfectly enlightened by the bodhisattva. Because the completely imputed and the dependent have abandoned that nature, space naturally abides in that nature, it does not need perfect enlightenment, therefore, perfectly enlighten all phenomena.
