the things are not observed. Just as the eye consciousness takes form as its immediate object, so the consciousness arising from sound is not like that, that is its meaning. Why is that? Saying "non-existent" means that the very thing of speech is called "name", that is, the thing of the essence of words is called "name", but not the essence of meaning, that is its meaning. Although the essence of name is not the self-nature of meaning, the connection of the characteristics of what is said and what can be said, even in the ultimate truth, exists, so hearing the name can understand the meaning. It is also said that "that is also", what does not exist is the nature of what is said in the ultimate truth. Therefore, its nature is invisible. The meaning is that if anything is said by any name, it will be related to the thing itself. In that case, even those who do not understand the language, just by hearing the sound, will know that this thing should be said with this sound. These two "non-existent" refer to the essence of name and the essence of meaning. For the time being, the nature of what is said and what can be said is not existent through pervasive thinking. Because the other nature is "other-nature". Even if it exists, that is also existence. Even so, it cannot be indicated by it, so it is not to deny the non-existence of things here. Even so, the meaning is not as the name exists. The name is not as the meaning exists. Therefore it is said that "the two do not exist". If it exists like that, then why, after manifesting complete enlightenment in any way, could Maitreya also teach the Prajnaparamita with just these names and so on? The meaning is that if there is a thing-like connection between sound and meaning, then any meaning that one Tathagata indicates with eyes, etc., other Tathagatas can also indicate the same meaning of manifesting complete enlightenment with the same eyes, etc. If the meaning of the Prajnaparamita of manifesting complete enlightenment, with the sounds of Prajnaparamita, etc. together.

If there is no connection, then how, when this happens, can this teaching be determined to be unrelated to meaning, but merely a collection of names, etc.? The intention of the Blessed One's answer, such as "Here it is," etc., is: When form, etc., are separated from the nature of the imputed and the dependent, and appear with the nature of emptiness, the so-called Bodhi is the same as all Buddhas. That is, the nature of Dharma is the same as form, etc., and the Buddhas can understand it separately with their own wisdom. From the ultimate truth, it cannot be shown to others, but only relies on the conventional truth. For the benefit of sentient beings, the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, begin to teach. Otherwise, if the Dharma nature of form, etc., is also integrated into it, it cannot be manifested. Therefore, relying on the conventional truth, how to realize the meaning, that is the teaching, past, present, and future, are all expressed through these names, etc. Therefore, Maitreya will also, after attaining perfect enlightenment, use these names, etc., to proclaim the Prajnaparamita, which is logical. The reason for asking "For what?" is to show the proximate cause of the question, that is, what Subhuti said, "Thus." The form of Dharma nature, because it is pure in nature, is not contaminated by all the temporary stains of elaboration, and it cannot be said that it is not emptiness, not bound, nor liberated. The saying "not emptiness" is read by some as "not permanent, not impermanent." But the meaning is the same. In order to praise the abiding and the joy-born who possess true meaning and perfect qualities, it is said "completely pure." "Because form is pure" means that when form, etc., do not appear with the nature of the imputed and the dependent, it is said to be "impure," because at that time what appears is the nature of emptiness. Precisely because of this, the distinctions of form, etc., are pure, so all dharmas are the characteristics of complete purity.

Therefore, since the Prajñāpāramitā is one with self-nature, it is said that form is completely pure, and its complete purity is expressed. The so-called "form is unproduced and pure" means that when the self-nature of dharmatā transforms form completely, and when birth, cessation, pervasive defilement, and purification do not appear, then that form is transformed into complete purity, otherwise it is not. This explanation is not found in the previous Buddhas, but is taken from the great teachings and combined with the meaning of Abhisamaya, and then added, so it is said. The so-called "space is completely pure" is like the fact that although there are sudden clouds and fog in space, there is no impurity, because its essence and self-nature are pure. Similarly, Prajñāpāramitā is also named because it is not stained by form and so on. When Prajñāpāramitā sees that all dharmas such as form are completely purified from the defilements of the afflictions of pervasive calculation and the elaboration of discrimination, because it is separated from all objects of observation, it is said that the aspect of non-observation is completely pure. Other teachers also quote the words "unapprehended", in order to show its complete purity, in accordance with the dharmatā of space, and to explain its undefiled nature, so it is said that "space is undefiled by its own nature". That is, as mentioned before, although there are sudden clouds and other defilements, space is still called completely pure. This means that they are not stained by those, and the meaning is different. Others quote "space and echo are unspeakable, inexpressible, and without objects of observation." The meaning is that, just as although two echoes can be heard in space, it cannot be said that the echo of sound and sound shadow exists in space, nor can it be said that space is sound, because there is no desire to express difference. Therefore, space is not stained by speech because of its unspeakable nature. Others think that even so, it is not easy to combine with Abhisamaya, they are self-righteous, and quote "space and echo are unspeakable, inexpressible, and without objects of observation."
