Then, the Samadhi that arises is called the Samadhi of Observation. Thus, four types of Samadhi arise, and in order to abandon all entanglements, distance, and dormant afflictions, one should strive with the above four correct abandonments. When striving, the eight factors of abandonment manifest, namely: the desire to generate worldly and transworldly attainments; the diligence to certainly destroy all non-virtuous dharmas; the faith in the dharmas attained above; the extreme pliancy previously abandoned; the aspects of mindfulness and awareness towards it; the awareness of the aspect of insight; the mind that manifestly engages the mind towards it; and the equanimity of the nature of the mind's complete non-deterioration. These are the Samadhi of desire mentioned earlier, as well as desire, diligence, faith, extreme pliancy, mindfulness, awareness, mind, and equanimity. These eight factors of abandonment, when combined, cultivate the Samadhi that becomes the basis of transworldly miraculous powers. This is its general meaning. To dwell in solitude means to be separated from afflictions. To be free from attachment to existence. It is the cessation of suffering. It is the complete abandonment of all aggregates. Alternatively, in order to fully understand the truth of suffering, one dwells in solitude. In order to abandon the truth of origination, one dwells in freedom from attachment. In order to realize the truth of cessation, one dwells in cessation. In order to cultivate the truth of the path, one should add "transformed by complete abandonment." Alternatively, in terms of the aggregate of ethics, it is dwelling in solitude. In terms of the aggregate of Samadhi, it is dwelling in freedom from attachment. In terms of the aggregate of wisdom, it is dwelling in cessation. In terms of the aggregate of liberation, it is transformed by complete abandonment. For the fourth, in this way, when these four masters correctly combine, seeing the signs of the arising of special qualities, certainty arises about the arising of special qualities above. At that time, the yogi's attainment of the teacher and the Shravakas

faith arises in it. When one has such faith, it gains control over the arising of supramundane dharmas, and is therefore called the power of faith. The power of faith also causes diligence to increase greatly, and in the same way, it gains control over the arising of supramundane dharmas, and is therefore called the power of diligence. The same should be applied to mindfulness and so on. Fifth, when that faith itself increases, neither gods nor demons, nor even Brahma, can overcome it in accordance with the Dharma, and it cannot be shaken by the entanglement of afflictions. At that time, it is called the power of faith. In order not to be disturbed by those mentioned above, diligence and so on also become difficult to overcome. With these powers, the yogi becomes powerful, overcomes all the powers of the demons, and engages in thorough practice, therefore they are called the powers. If one cultivates these five, such as the power of faith, they will definitely turn into the four roots of virtue that are in accordance with the part of discernment, namely, the warmth, the peak, the forbearance, and the supreme mundane Dharma. Among them, in the state of warmth and the peak, they are called the faculties. In the state of forbearance and the supreme mundane Dharma, they are called the powers. When these five, called the supreme mundane Dharma, increase greatly, they immediately turn into the limb of realization that is exactly as it is on the path of seeing. Therefore, seven dharmas called the limbs of enlightenment arise, namely, discrimination of dharmas, diligence, and joy, these three are on the side of higher vision. Serenity, samadhi, and equanimity are on the side of calm abiding. Mindfulness is on the side of both. By obtaining these, one sees that one's own afflictions that are to be abandoned by seeing have been abandoned, and those that are to be abandoned by cultivation have not been abandoned. In order to abandon these, one cultivates the three aggregates of the eightfold noble path. Among them, right view, right thought, and right effort are the aggregate of wisdom; right speech and the limit of action
