Clinging through the act of savoring, clinging to the two extremes of permanence and annihilation, is the definition of "attachment." The term "not knowing, not seeing" refers to not knowing through inference, direct perception, or the power of scripture, or one's own power. There are three explanations for this: arising from the root of ignorance, arising from the root of conceptualization, and arising from the root of disbelief. Among these, due to the power of ignorance, holding onto non-existent phenomena as existent, and due to the power of craving tasting, the childish ones who fall into the two extremes do not know or see, this is the first explanation. In this way, due to the absence of knowing and seeing, conceptualization increases, and because it is not in accordance with reality, they conceptualize and cling to all phenomena. Because they conceptualize in terms of the two extremes, they do not know or see. Those who do not know or see all phenomena are counted among the "ordinary beings," and therefore are not definitely liberated, this is the second explanation. Similarly, even if they hear the truth as it is, because they do not believe in that meaning, and do not abide in faith, they do not abide in the practice of the perfections. Because they do not abide in practice, they do not attain the dharmas to be realized, such as irreversibility. Therefore, due to the fault of clinging to all phenomena, they are counted among the "ordinary beings," this is the third explanation. Thus, it is shown that for those who have become like this, there is neither learning nor definite liberation. When asked why there is no learning or definite liberation, the answer is: because they are unskilled in means, and conceptualize and cling to all the perfections and the practices, therefore there is no learning. Because they conceptualize and cling to the dharmas of the path to enlightenment, up to and including omniscience, therefore there is no definite liberation. Then it is shown that for those perfections themselves, not clinging to the practices and entering into the name of learning, and not clinging to omniscience, phenomena, and the emptiness of all phenomena, is definite liberation. Therefore, clinging

After teaching the absence of manifestation, and again to show the teaching of illusion and so on, the Blessed One asked some people in this way, and so on. Regarding this, the point of the venerable Subhuti is this: Blessed One, if one practices without an object of focus, and the dharmas are without substance, then if one trains in the dharmas that are without substance and becomes liberated, then even a magician who is extremely unreal, by training with an objectless mind on what is done by magic, will become liberated and attain omniscience. Then, the Blessed One said that there is no difference between the dharmas of illusion and form, etc. Just as there is no training or liberation in the dharmas of illusion, so too, the Bodhisattva does not train in the dharmas of form, etc., nor is there liberation in them, nor will omniscience be attained. To show that it is the same as illusion, Subhuti, what do you think? Is illusion something else, and is form something else? and so on. Bodhisattvas who are skilled in the nature of all dharmas being without substance do not see that the imputed dharmas such as form exist apart from illusion. To show this, Blessed One, illusion is not something else, and omniscience is not something else. Blessed One, omniscience is also illusion, and illusion itself is omniscience. This is stated in the ultimate treatise, because everything is of the nature of imputation, so there is no difference from illusion in the nature of non-existence. This is the first explanation of illusion. Similarly, because there is no birth, cessation, defilement, and purification, the extremely unreal illusion, the training in all dharmas, and liberation, and the attainment of omniscience are impossible. This is the second explanation of illusion. If the aggregates and other unmixed dharmas
