This is the answer to the question, "To what does this Prajñāpāramitā belong?" It is because all dharmas are separated from their own nature and therefore have no substance. Then, by realizing what dharma is it taught to be called Prajñāpāramitā? This is what is to be explained. Shariputra, and from "form has no characteristic of form," etc., to "whoever studies this will definitely attain omniscience," this is to explain "what is this Prajñāpāramitā for?" It is established as Prajñāpāramitā in order to realize the characteristics of all dharmas. If all dharmas are without characteristics and separated from characteristics, then what characteristics will be realized? This is what is to be explained. It is because all characteristics are not imputed. Therefore, the nature of dharma is said to be separated from the characteristics of form, etc. Subhuti, will a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who studies what Prajñāpāramitā studies definitely attain omniscience? From this question to Shariputra's saying, "A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who thus practices Prajñāpāramitā is close to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment," this is to explain "what is this Prajñāpāramitā?" It is called Prajñāpāramitā for the sake of definite emergence. That definite emergence is also not in all dharmas, because all dharmas have no birth and no definite emergence, therefore it will not become its definite emergence, this is what is to be explained. Shariputra, form is empty by the nature of form, and there, birth and definite emergence are not seen. This is because the form of the perfectly established nature of dharma is empty by the nature of the imputed form. Therefore, for the form of the nature of dharma, in the state of samsara, there is no birth and arising of the nature of all afflictions. In the state of purity, for the completely purified nature, there is no inverted object.

Because there is no (birth), there will be no sudden occurrence (of birth), because the self-nature is originally pure and the Dharma-nature does not change. 'No birth' (སྐྱེ་བ་མེད།) refers to the state of being with defilements. 'No occurrence' (ངེས་པར་འབྱུང་བ་མེད།) refers to the state of being without defilements. Thus, after showing the proof of complete examination, in order to show the proof of diligence after that, O Blessed One, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, while practicing the Prajnaparamita, because of unskilled means, practices on form, etc., from this beginning to the Venerable Shariputra, this Bodhisattva Mahasattva is close to omniscience, as stated in the scriptures, this proof of diligence also shows two aspects: that non-means should be abandoned and that means should be relied upon. Non-means are also shown in two ways: practicing on characteristics and practicing on manifest realization. Means are also shown in two ways: not practicing on dharmas and not practicing on the characteristics of dharmas. Among them, practicing on characteristics with non-means is practicing on characteristics when practicing on form.

Conduct is understood through skill in means, and this is explained up to that point. Regarding this, the emptiness of form, that it is not form, etc., has already been explained above, so there is no need to repeat it. In the practice of means, acting without fixating on the characteristics of phenomena means that when one practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if one fixates on some phenomena, then it is not practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, starting from there, up to the point where the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is close to omniscience. Among these, 'fixating' is called, 'not fixating' is called, 'fixating and also not fixating' is called, and 'neither fixating nor not fixating' is called, these four discriminations are also characteristics, 'acting' is called, 'not acting' is called, 'acting and also not acting' is called, and 'neither acting nor not acting' is called, these four should also be added as characteristics. The Perfection of Wisdom is without essence and unfixated means that in the state of perfect accomplishment, all phenomena are unfixated, so the Perfection of Wisdom also does not have the essence of the Perfection of Wisdom. Having thus shown the practice of diligence, now it shows the practice of quickly attaining complete enlightenment, that is, omniscience is also non-dual and without interval, etc. This practice is also shown in four ways: learning the mandala of samadhi, learning not to fixate on all phenomena, learning about illusion-like qualities, etc., and learning to be skilled in means. Among these, because all phenomena are of the nature of non-things, omniscience is also non-dual and indivisible, starting from there, up to the point where one should train in the mindfulnesses, it is training in samadhi. Shariputra, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva thus trains in the Perfection of Wisdom, and in the manner of not fixating on the unshared qualities of the Buddhas.
