Furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, it is said, "Do not abide in form," and so on. This practice of abiding is also shown in two ways: not abiding in phenomena and not abiding in the nature of phenomena. Among these, not abiding in phenomena is explained by the text from "Do not abide in form" to the end of "World Honored One, therefore, when a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, do not abide in letters." Not abiding in the nature of phenomena is explained by the text from "Furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahāsattva practicing the Perfection of Wisdom does not abide in the view that form is impermanent" to the end of "Unless the Perfection of Wisdom is completely perfected, one will not निश्चित (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Literal Chinese meaning) निश्चित (niścita, certain) attain omniscience." By the reasoning of abiding free from the two extremes, one ultimately abides in the state of non-retrogression by way of non-abiding, thereby निश्चित (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Literal Chinese meaning) निश्चित (niścita, certain) attaining omniscience. Because it is said "by way of non-abiding," the last sentence should be interpreted as explaining that one abides by way of non-abiding. Now, the first explanation of all the reasonings for non-abiding will be explained, namely, "Do not abide in form. Do not abide in feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness," which shows that one should not abide in the five aggregates. Then, in order to explain the reason for not abiding separately, starting with form, it is said, "World Honored One, thus form is empty of form, and whatever is the emptiness of form is not form. Apart from emptiness, there is no form, form itself is emptiness, and emptiness is form." The meaning is as follows: Previously it was said, "Do not abide in form," and then it was said, "Thus form is empty of form." Here, form is also of three types: imputed form, discriminated form, and the form of suchness. Among these, the ordinary people's

Whatever form of things is apprehended as the characteristic of being suitable for beings, etc., is called the form of complete imputation. That which becomes the object of consciousness in the form of appearing as the meaning of any aspect is called the form of complete dependence. That which is completely established, devoid of the aspects of both complete imputation and complete dependence, and is merely suchness, is called the form of the nature of reality. Among these, that which is the completely established form of the nature of reality is empty because it is empty of the characteristics of existing as the form of complete imputation, etc., and of the form of complete dependence appearing as the aspect of an object in form; therefore, it is called emptiness. Having said that, is there any other characteristic of form in the form of the nature of reality that is empty of the form of complete imputation and complete dependence? Why is it also called form? Because of doubting this, it is said that the emptiness of form is not form. Because that which is empty of the form of complete imputation and complete dependence is the form of dharma, the characteristic of complete establishment, it is not the essence of form, because it is devoid of the aspect of form in all ways. This is a concluding statement. Having said that, if form does not exist in all ways, then what is empty, and why is this called emptiness? Emptiness without an object does not exist, and it is not reasonable for dharma and the nature of dharma to be different, and it is not reasonable for dharma and the nature of dharma to be different. Because of doubting this, it is said that there is no form apart from emptiness. If asked, how will it be explained? The answer is: It is like water that is not clear. In the state of not being clear, it is called turbidity, and in the state of being clear, it is called clear water. Just as the sky in the state of not being clear is called haze, and in the state of being clear is called clear sky, so too, this emptiness, in the state of being impure, is expressed in terms of form, etc., because it is not different from ordinary people, and in the state of being pure, it is called emptiness. Therefore, form, etc., which is separate from emptiness
