Oh! It should not be the nature of cessation either, because there is no birth. Thus, what is born will cease, but what is not born will not cease. Furthermore, if there were a dharma called "cessation," would it be a dharma of existence or non-existence? If it exists, then it should not cease, because existence and non-existence cannot exist in one thing. Non-existence also should not cease, because it is non-existence itself. Thus, one cannot say that a rabbit's horn has cessation. Whatever is unreasonable for the birth of all things, that itself is unreasonable for the cessation of all things. Existence and non-existence, the two, are not reasonable in one thing. For a thing that is not existent, cessation is not reasonable, just as one cannot cut the head twice. Thus it is also said. Therefore, what is called birth and what is called cessation are all conceptual constructs, merely terms, but in ultimate reality, they do not exist. Therefore, it is said that form is not seen as truly following the nature of birth or the nature of cessation. Similarly, form and so on should not be defiled or purified. If all things are inherently defiled, then since the inherent nature cannot be abandoned, they will never be purified. If the inherent nature is pure and completely pure, then since the inherent nature cannot be abandoned, the dharmas will never be defiled. Furthermore, if the dharmas are defiled, then do they change from being defiled or from being pure? If those that have become defiled become defiled again, then defilement becomes meaningless, because there is no fear of generating defilement again for those that have already become defiled. Moreover, everything repeatedly generates defilement, then it will never be purified. Pure things also should not be defiled, because it is contradictory. In one thing, defilement and purity cannot occur simultaneously, because there are not two natures. Similarly,

If complete purification also becomes completely defiled, or if it changes from complete purity, then there is no complete purification in complete defilement, because these two dharmas are contradictory. Complete purity should also not be complete purification, because complete purity is meaningless. Therefore, complete defilement and complete purification are not truly existent in the ultimate sense, but on the thusness of self-nature purity, in the state of ordinary beings, for sudden complete defilement, it is called complete defilement, and in the stage of complete purity, for the absence of sudden complete defilement, it is merely called complete purification, it should not be the nature of forms and other dharmas. Therefore, (the Buddha) said that one should not truly see that form is the nature of complete defilement, or the nature of complete purification. Thus, after showing the reason why forms and so on have no self-nature, now, with "form and feeling and so on do not truly accumulate together, and should not be truly seen" and so on, it shows that accumulation has no characteristic of aggregates, the meaning of aggregates is accumulation, if accumulation truly exists, then it will become existent, since the dharmas do not truly accumulate, therefore it also shows that there is no characteristic of aggregates. The dharmas truly accumulate together, if they become confused or one nature, form and feeling and so on are not without confusion, and their natures are different. Similarly, feeling and so on should also not truly accumulate together with form. Similarly, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness also have different characteristics, since the characteristics are different and very different, how can these truly accumulate into one self-nature of aggregates? Furthermore, from form and feeling and so on, what is the self-nature of form and feeling and so on, those are all conceptual constructs, like illusion, their self-nature is emptiness. In this regard, just as illusory objects such as horses and elephants do not truly accumulate into one, similarly, conceptual constructs such as form also do not accumulate into one. Form

Whatever is the nature of suchness of form, etc., that is only emptiness by nature. Among them, the so-called "because of emptiness by nature" shows that just as the sky does not combine with the sky, so too are the forms, etc., of the dharma nature. This is just a brief indication of a door. Thus, form does not combine with feeling, etc., and feeling, etc., does not combine with form. Feeling does not combine with perception, etc., and perception, etc., does not combine with feeling. Perception does not combine with volition, etc., and volition, etc., does not combine with perception. Volition does not combine with consciousness, and consciousness does not combine with volition, and so on. Seventh fascicle. Now, in order to eliminate the characteristics of those forms, etc., it is shown that "whatever is the emptiness of form is not form," and so on. Thus, if one strives for emptiness, then all the conceptualizations of form, etc., will not appear as the characteristics of form, etc., but will appear as the characteristics of emptiness. At that time, it is shown that "whatever is the emptiness of form is not form." Thus, if one strives for emptiness, then all the conceptualizations of form, etc., will not appear as the characteristics of form, etc., but will be the characteristics of emptiness. If it is called form, then there is no form in emptiness, therefore it is not form. Thus, there is no feeling, therefore it is not feeling. Thus, there is no accumulation and knowing, therefore it is not perception. Thus, there is no manifest action, therefore it is not volitions. Thus, there is no discriminator in emptiness, therefore it is not consciousness. Thus, the self-nature of those forms, etc., is eliminated, and it is said, "If form, etc., are not the nature of being receptive to form, etc., then the sound of form, etc., will become without an object," and thus doubt arises, and one asks, "Why is that?" Form.
