It should not be said that it is non-existent, that is, it should not be said that emptiness does not exist. Because all dharmas are emptiness. It should also not be said that it exists, that is, it should not be said that emptiness exists. Because if analyzed in this way, there is no other dharma called emptiness. Therefore, this is called emptiness emptiness. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva thinks thus: If all dharmas are emptiness, then why is it called dependent origination for all these moving and unmoving beings? Dependent origination is impossible for non-existent things. If the dharma of dependent origination exists, then in that case, all moving and unmoving beings will exist. After thinking thus, he again determines thus: There is no dharma called dependent origination. Thus, although these things are extremely non-existent, as long as they have not been truly seen, directly perceived, and realized, they exist in the things of cause and effect from beginningless time with the nature of karma, afflictions, and maturation. These karma, afflictions, and maturation are also completely emptiness. For empty dharmas, whatever enters the nature of cause and effect of emptiness is called dependent origination. For example, some magicians deceive the eyes of sentient beings with magic spells, thereby showing things such as elephants, horses, vehicles, armies, mountains, rivers, and oceans. For those sentient beings whose eyes are deceived by spells, it also becomes the cause for the arising of self-appearing consciousness of magical elephants, etc., and those consciousnesses will also see magical elephants, etc. Thus, magical elephants, etc., and consciousness enter the things of cause and effect, this is called dependent origination. The dependent origination of magical elephants, etc., and those consciousnesses cannot exist in ultimate truth.

Just like that, all those with childish views deluded by ignorance will also see the fabricated, completely imputed dharmas of karma, such as illusory elephants, etc. Those completely imputed dharmas will also become the cause for the arising of self-appearing consciousness. Those consciousnesses will also see those dharmas. Thus, the completely imputed objects of grasping and the subjects of grasping, whatever exists as cause and effect, this is called dependent arising. Since those dependent arisings of objects of grasping and subjects of grasping cannot possibly exist in ultimate truth, therefore the dharmas are called without inherent existence. If the dharmas were not artificial and had some essence that was inherently existent, then the dharmas would not depend on others due to the power of causes and conditions and arise, but would arise on their own. Like this, the dharmas depend on other conditions and arise entirely by the power of others. They are not artificial objects of their own, and they do not arise by inherent existence. Therefore, it should be known that they do not have their own objects. Because they do not have their own objects in that way, they are called without essence. Because they are without essence, therefore they are emptiness. Therefore, the meaning of without essence is the meaning of dependent arising. The meaning of emptiness is called the meaning of dependent arising. When the correct view arises exactly as it is and the power of the mantra of ignorance is completely destroyed, at that time, the completely imputed dharmas, which are like illusory elephants, etc., and the dharmas of consciousness that grasp onto them, as characteristics of cause and effect, no longer appear with the nature of dependent arising, and completely disappear. This is called the great emptiness. Again, the Bodhisattva thinks like this: If all dharmas are empty, then the dharmas of ultimate truth will also become empty. If that becomes empty, then how can it become the supreme meaning? How can the vajra-like samadhi of the Buddhas be in that?

It will become the target. If that dharma exists, then all dharmas will also exist in the same way. After thinking like this, it is determined again in this way: There is no such thing as the ultimate truth dharma. Whatever is the state of accomplishment of the Tathagatagarbha is not the nature of dharma, and it cannot be said that it exists or does not exist. The state of complete accomplishment cannot be said to exist either, because it is established as the characteristic of being without the apprehended and the apprehender. For the nature of non-existence, it cannot be said to exist. It also cannot be said that it does not exist, because it exists as the nature of being free from duality. If one says that something that exists in that way exists, then it will become existing as the nature of a real thing, and it will become an extreme of superimposition. If one says that it does not exist in substance, then it will become non-existent like a rabbit's horn, and it will become an extreme of denial. Therefore, it cannot be said in either way, so do not examine it in that way. What is said about the object of Vajra-like Samadhi is also said without examination. The non-conceptual wisdom of the Buddhas, which transcends the world, does not focus on anything, because at that time there is no aspect of the apprehended and the apprehender. Because it abides in the nature of being extremely pure, it does not focus on anything. However, in the beginningless cycle of existence, because of the previous habit of the nature of grasping, at that time, although there is no object of one's own consciousness, it is close to entering as one's own grasping. That is called equality because the object to be focused on and the object that focuses are equal; the object to be focused on and the object that focuses are also the same, so it is called equality equality. The ultimate truth that exists in that way, which does not have the nature of becoming another dharma, is called the ultimate truth emptiness. Again, the Bodhisattva thinks like this: If all dharmas are emptiness, then conditioned dharmas and unconditioned dharmas will not exist, conditioned
