Because there is no affliction. Because of the cessation of existence, birth and old age and death also cease, which is because there is no all-pervasive affliction of birth. Therefore, whatever causes suffering, whatever causes suffering, whatever is suffering, and whatever is the cause of suffering, it is shown that these have been abandoned. Furthermore, by abandoning the all-pervasive affliction of karma, one obtains the bliss of perfect enlightenment. By abandoning the all-pervasive affliction of afflictions, one obtains incomparable bliss. By abandoning the all-pervasive affliction of maturation, one obtains the bliss of tranquility. By abandoning the all-pervasive affliction of birth, one obtains the bliss of no aggregates, and obtaining whatever is bliss, whatever causes bliss, whatever is bliss, and whatever is the cause of bliss, this is called no affliction. The term "Arhat" refers to the merit of the place of offering. The term "exhaustion of outflows" refers to the merit of purity. The term "no affliction" refers to no suffering, which is the difference between these three. The term "endowed with power" means that the worlds become their power, or that I become the power of the worlds and feel pain, or that their minds are controlled, or that they are called endowed with power because they have obtained power. There are four powers: power over miracles, power over faculties, power over samadhi, and power over wisdom. Among them, by having power over miracles, one can become the power of sentient beings and the world of containers. By having power over the faculties, the world rejoices in them through the tranquility of their conduct. By having power over samadhi, one can control their minds. By having power over wisdom, one can cut off all afflictions, karma, and maturation, and obtain power because one becomes free like liberation from bondage. Among them, by having power over the faculties, one can obtain dwelling through conduct. By having power over samadhi, one can obtain the dwelling of the gods and the dwelling of Brahma. By having power over miracles, one can obtain the dwelling of transformation through clairvoyance. By having power over wisdom, one can obtain the dwelling of the noble ones. This

By having power over positions, one perfects the aggregate of morality. By having power over miracles, one perfects the aggregate of concentration. By having power over concentration, one perfects the aggregate of wisdom. By having power over wisdom, one perfects the aggregate of liberation. Through morality, one is liberated from the bonds of misconduct. Through concentration, one is liberated from the bonds of existence. Through wisdom, one is liberated from the bonds of wrong views. Through liberation, one is liberated from the bonds of existence. Therefore, one achieves independence in order to be liberated from bonds. Because one has independence, one is said to have power in order to attain self-experience. The term "mind utterly liberated" indicates that all the afflictive dharmas on the side of existence are shown to be non-existent. The term "wisdom utterly liberated" indicates that all aspects of ignorance are shown to be non-existent. Thus, because of being separated from desire, the mind is utterly liberated, and therefore it is called mind utterly liberated. Because of being separated from ignorance, wisdom is liberated, and therefore it is called wisdom utterly liberated. Among these, the attainment of concentration and equipoise, which are to be attained by abandoning the afflictions and near afflictions on the side of craving, is called mind liberation. The knowledge of the path of an Arhat, which is to be attained by abandoning all afflictions, is called wisdom liberation. Among these, by attaining mind liberation, one is liberated from the obscuration of equipoise. By attaining wisdom liberation, one is liberated from the obscuration of afflictions. Those who are liberated from both parts are called mind utterly liberated and wisdom utterly liberated. The term "knowing one" means fearless. Because there is no fear, the sutra speaks of five knowing ones: the bull king knowing one because there is no fear of embarrassing situations such as the tongue falling out; the elephant because there is no fear of battle; the horse knowing one; the lion knowing one because there is no fear of harm from others; and the Arhat knowing one because there is no fear of death.
