has been taught. Furthermore, the qualities of a Bodhisattva are also taught in four ways: the qualities of the impure grounds, the qualities of the pure grounds, the qualities of the grounds of individually and correctly knowing, and the qualities of the grounds of abiding in the ultimate. From the first ground to the seventh ground, due to attention and effort, are the impure grounds. Among these, from "desiring to enter the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva" to "desiring to manifest the body of a Buddha," one should know that these are the qualities of those grounds. From "desiring to manifest the body of a Buddha" to "understanding Suchness," these are the pure qualities of the eighth ground. From "the atom of an atom" to "the completion of the six perfections," these are the qualities of the ninth ground of individually and correctly knowing. From "desiring to attain the qualities of the Buddhas of the past, future, and those who have thus appeared, the Bhagavat Buddhas" to "individually establishing the fruits such as stream-enterer," these are the qualities of the tenth ground of abiding in the ultimate. Among these, "desiring to enter the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva" refers to turning away from the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas themselves, which is called the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva. Others say that "faultlessness" refers to the Tathagatagarbha. There are also three states: the faultlessness of being free from all afflictions, the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva, and the faultlessness of the Dharma. The Tathagatagarbha refers to Suchness, which also has three states: the impure state on the ground of ordinary beings, the pure and impure state on the ground of Bodhisattvas, and the pure state on the ground of the Tathagatas. Among these, the impure Suchness is called sentient beings, which is the faultlessness of being free from all afflictions. The state of purity and impurity is called Bodhisattva, because the state of Bodhi is pure, and the state of sentient beings is impure. In that very Bodhi

The faultlessness of a Bodhisattva is called (the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva). The state of purity is called Tathagata, as it says in the Arya Ratnamegha Sutra: 'Subhuti, Tathagata is the supreme name of Suchness.' Therefore, that itself is called the faultlessness of Dharma. Tathagatagarbha sentient beings, refers to completely abandoning the state of faultlessness that is impure and completely afflicted. Bodhisattva, refers to obtaining the state of faultlessness of a Bodhisattva that is pure and impure, and is called the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva. Bodhisattva, refers to wanting to obtain the state of faultlessness of Suchness, this is its definition. Wanting to transcend the grounds of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas means, because of the excellence of qualities. A Bodhisattva who has entered the wisdom of the grounds transcends Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas with four kinds of qualities, namely the difference of faculties, the difference of practice, the difference of wisdom, and the difference of fruit. Among them, the faculties of Sravakas are naturally dull, the faculties of Pratyekabuddhas are intermediate, and the faculties of Bodhisattvas are sharp. Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas are naturally focused on their own benefit, they only accomplish their own benefit, and they only ultimately benefit themselves. Bodhisattvas are focused on the benefit of themselves and others, they accomplish the benefit of themselves and others, and they ultimately benefit themselves and others. Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas realize that all dharmas are impermanent, suffering, empty, and selfless, while Bodhisattvas, because they are engaged in benefiting themselves and others, are proficient in all fields of knowledge, accomplish various benefits for the realm of sentient beings, and then realize that all dharmas are of the nature of non-appearance. Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas obtain the purification of the obscuration of afflictions, thereby obtaining Nirvana without remainder. Bodhisattvas abandon both the obscuration of afflictions and the obscuration of knowledge, and obtain non-abiding
