This ground is also shown in three ways: through the miracle of samadhi, the miracle of magical power, and the miracle of the appearance of dharma. Among these, the miracle of samadhi is due to the power of two samadhis: the miracle of the samadhi called the King of Samadhi, and the miracle of the samadhi called Lion's Play. The miracle of magical power is also of two kinds: the miracle of emanation and the miracle of blessing. The miracle of the appearance of dharma is also of two kinds: the miracle of showing the world and the miracle of gathering retinue. Among these, from "Entering into the samadhi called the King of Samadhi" up to "At that time, the Bhagavan was seated on that very lion throne," the miracle of the samadhi called the King of Samadhi is shown. From "Entering into the samadhi called Lion's Play" up to "Then, the Bhagavan showed to the beings of the three-thousand great-thousand world a common body similar to their own bodies," the miracle of the samadhi called Lion's Play is shown. From "He showed it just as it was" up to "Destroyed, completely destroyed, utterly destroyed," the miracle of emanation is shown. From "It remained there as the measure of a three-thousand great-thousand world mansion" up to "Then, the Bhagavan remained seated on that very lion throne," the miracle of the magical power of blessing is shown. Then, from "Again, he smiled" up to "The Tathagata Shakyamuni was seen dwelling together with a sangha of seven monks and a retinue of bodhisattvas," the miracle of showing the world is shown. Then, in the eastern direction, beyond worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges,

Beginning with "knowing." At that time, the Blessed One thus comprehended the gods and demons, etc., up to "entering into the mind," which demonstrates the miraculous power of gathering retinues. Among them, now is the demonstration of the miraculous power of Samadhi called "King of Samadhi," which is shown in four ways: radiating light from limbs and parts, radiating light from pores, radiating light from nature, and radiating light from the root of the tongue. In "entering into the Samadhi called King of Samadhi," why does the Tathagata enter into Samadhi? Can it be accomplished without entering into Samadhi? Does he not act? If asked whether he does not act, it is not that he does not act, but the Tathagatas do not rejoice or delight in scattered actions, therefore they are always in Samadhi. Thus, entering into Samadhi, this is the nature of the Tathagata. Why enter into that Samadhi, and not another? This Samadhi can accomplish all benefits, therefore it is said, "In which Samadhi, all Samadhis are contained," meaning that all the respective functions of all Samadhis can be accomplished by this one Samadhi alone. Gathering and truly entering with focus, in terms of nature, it is gathering, in terms of function, it is truly entering. The extensive qualities of that Samadhi should be understood from the Sutra of King of Samadhi. Therefore, it is also declared with the definitive term "called King of Samadhi." Such a Samadhi, what is it similar to? What kind of characteristics does it have? It is said to be free from discrimination, analysis, joy, and happiness, possessing equanimity, and is the characteristic of being unshakeable. If so, why not say it is the fourth Dhyana? It is only said to be the fourth Dhyana in relation to the first, second, and third Dhyanas. The Tathagata has no need for anything more superior.

Sequential placement does not allow for equality. Since there is no beginning, etc., it does not obtain the name of the Fourth Dhyana. The King of Samadhi is the nature of a mere moment of immovability, therefore it is spoken of as immovability. That Samadhi does not operate in form, nor does it operate in desire, nor does it operate in formlessness, but it is stainless equanimity and possesses one-pointedness of mind, and is called Samadhi. Moreover, due to the differences in actions, it is referred to by names such as Heroic Progress, Lion's Play, King of Samadhi, Superior to All Dharmas, and Invisible Crown, but there is no distinction in their individual nature. Having thus shown the placement in Samadhi, now, in order to show the emanation of light from the limbs and branches, it is said that all bodies make a smile. Smiling here means opening the mouth, that is, making it possible for light to arise from all limbs and branches, and making it expand. Although the Tathagata does not have the effort of thinking, 'I will do this,' if there is a need, then by the power of Samadhi, such and such things are manifestly accomplished, because all Samadhis are completely seized by the power of past aspirations. Those who accurately gather, in order to make it possible to use terms, the Tathagata does so. It should be understood that this is the designation of saying, 'Thus he spoke.' The statement that sixty-six billion, trillion, hundred thousand lights appear is said twice as 'sixty-sixty' because there are two soles of the feet. If so, what is the necessity of the determination of sixty? Since there are many lights, many to be tamed, and many needs, the number should be billions, trillions, hundred thousands. Why is it determined to be the number sixty? It should be understood that the nature of the Tathagata's light is six kinds of colors: blue, yellow, and red.
