The reason for saying "Previous karma and the four objects of gathering are always relied upon" is that by the power of gathering through giving, etc., the two hands become webbed. Some explain that by the power of other beneficial actions, etc., the two feet become webbed. Alternatively, the two hands will gather, and the gathered beings will be transformed by touching the feet. It should be understood that the shape of the fingers has no gaps. Because they are good at gathering and have become soft, these are in accordance with the objects of gathering. The reason for saying "Gather quickly" is that when explaining the Dharma to the eight assemblies, they gather quickly, which is its synonym. Some have different explanations for the hands and feet being connected by webs, believing that except for the two thumbs of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, the tips of all the fingers are level, and the fingers also have the characteristic of being connected like grains, remaining level, just as the window's web and the top of the pillar are level, and the characteristics of grains appear equally on all the fingers, and because they appear like a web, it is explained as the hands and feet being connected by webs. If tiny beings touch the two feet of the Tathagata, they will become extremely happy, and even after death, they will be reborn in the realm of the gods, and it is said that the mark of the webbed feet has such power.

The so-called long fingers refer to avoiding the faults of fingers that are too long, too short, too thick, too thin, and crooked, etc., without faults, matching the palm, having a measure, the fingers gradually become full, and the fingertips are slender, this is called long fingers. Because it has a heel that is free from all the faults of the heel, has a measure, and matches the foot, the heel is wide. For this, if the entire sole of the foot is divided into four parts, three parts are the foot, and one part is the heel, this is having a measure. Because the webbed feet of the water bird are complete and the waist is high, the body is tall. Unlike other people, there is no inclination or distortion in any part of the shoulders, waist, and knees, or in the front, back, and chest, so the body is upright. Similarly, giving the necessities of life also eliminates short life, but it does not suddenly lengthen life. Likewise, here too, the heels and toes are not short, but long, but not particularly long. Being called seven cubits tall means that the height of an ordinary person's body is tall, which refers to the size of an ordinary body. Because the crown of the head cannot be seen, the size of the Blessed One's form body cannot be determined. Because killing has been abandoned, the actions of the body are not dishonest, so it is in accordance with the uprightness of the body. Being called feet without protuberances means that the bones of the knee joints and ankle joints are high, which are called having protuberances, without these, and what is very obvious and completely submerged is called feet without protuberances. In others, these two bones are large, so the feet and shins are unsightly. If it is not soft, walking is uncomfortable, and the gait will become unsightly. Because the Blessed One's joints are not obvious, the shins are beautiful. Being soft makes the gait beautiful. Others say that the ankle bones of ordinary people appear on the back of the foot, so their feet are like being nailed, and they are not soft, cannot be turned at will, and the soles of the feet cannot be seen when walking. The ankle bones of great beings appear above the instep of the foot. Their bodies also only move the lower half, the upper half does not appear to move. The feet are also easy to turn, and whether looking forward, backward, left, or right, the soles of the feet can be seen and the gait is beautiful. Being called body hair growing upwards means that when the body hair of great beings grows from the pores, the tips of the hair grow upwards, like looking up at a beautiful face. Just as previous actions, how the accepted virtuous dharmas grow more and more, it is in accordance with the direction of the feet being high and the hair looking upwards and growing tall.
