It is like the thought of wanting to make it into three. The Bodhisattva does not have the intention of wanting to make emptiness manifest, but rather thinks that practicing emptiness is the most appropriate. Therefore, later on, it is only practice, not manifestation, that is the conclusion. Therefore, it is said, "Now is the time to become completely familiar, not the time to manifest." It means that both becoming completely familiar with emptiness and not manifesting emptiness are entirely due to the power of the wisdom of complete familiarity. "Attaching the mind to the object when not in samadhi" means that the wisdom of complete familiarity refers to the mind of self-nature, but it is not in samadhi, therefore, there is no cessation at that moment. Because there is no cessation, the path beyond the world will not arise. Now, it explains the wisdom of complete familiarity, and knowing when it is the right time and when it is not, such as "Now is the time for the perfection of generosity," and so on. The analogy of the brave man, the analogy of the bird, and the analogy of the archery teacher should also be understood in conjunction with the scriptures. Blessed One, how wonderful! Sugata, how wonderful! It means that those who see all dharmas as emptiness in this way will not cultivate the three samadhis due to discouragement in the intermediate state, nor will they fall into the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, which is truly wonderful! Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not abandon all sentient beings, etc. Here, the Blessed One explains the reason for not being discouraged. There are also seven explanations here: the explanation of entering non-dharma, the explanation of contemplating the object, the explanation of the mind being inverted, the explanation of distinguishing between the individual and the dharma, the explanation of characteristics, the explanation of aspiration, and the explanation of asking the Bodhisattva. These sentient beings are deceived by mistaking non-dharma for dharma, and I will not abandon those sentient beings who do not recognize sentient beings.

The so-called "practice" is that Bodhisattvas generate great compassion, and with the cause of keeping all sentient beings in mind without abandoning them, they do not become timid in the intermediate state, nor do they directly realize the true limit. This is the first explanation. These sentient beings have long been practicing by focusing on objects such as self and sentient beings. I generate the mind that I will abandon their view by explaining the Dharma after I have directly realized perfect and complete enlightenment, therefore I am not timid. This is the second explanation. These sentient beings have long been transformed into inverted minds by the four types of inverted perceptions of permanence, happiness, purity, and self. I will liberate them from these inversions. This is the third explanation. These sentient beings have long been practicing by discriminating sentient beings and discriminating phenomena such as form. For their benefit, I will directly realize perfect and complete enlightenment and then explain the Dharma of emptiness. This is the fourth explanation. These sentient beings have long been practicing by clinging to characteristics, clinging to characteristics such as women and men, and the characteristics of phenomena such as form. For their benefit, I will directly realize perfect and complete enlightenment and then explain the Dharma of no characteristics. This is the fifth explanation. Similarly, these sentient beings have long been practicing by making aspirations, making aspirations for the benefit of Indra, Brahma, world protectors, etc., and for the benefit of beautiful phenomena such as form. For their benefit, I will directly realize perfect and complete enlightenment and then explain the Dharma of no aspiration. This is the sixth explanation. Regarding questions to Bodhisattvas, if they ask in this way, answer: emptiness, no characteristics, no aspiration, no action, no birth, no thing. Like this, you should practice well, grasp these to answer, and know that this is the prophecy. This is the thorough understanding of fully familiarizing and knowing its characteristics.
