Because it causes harm, it is similar to sin, therefore it is sinful. Because it is the place of arising from conditions, and is the master of karma, because it does not obtain control from other places, therefore it is dependent on others. Because disease, aging, and death completely destroy its nature, therefore it is of a destructible nature. Because it possesses the three characteristics of conditioned phenomena and possesses the eight impermanent dharmas of the world, therefore it is impermanent. Because its own nature and harm also lead to destruction, therefore it is complete destruction. What is called non-fear is the antidote to peace and happiness, and is the root of all fears, therefore it is fear. Without being aware, it is afflicted by various harms. Because there are many harms, delusions, and it is similar to infectious diseases, therefore it is an infectious disease. Regarding selflessness and "one should contemplate on peace" etc. Because it is free from the characteristics of speech, therefore it is selfless. Because all suffering is pacified, therefore it is peaceful. Because it is not associated with afflictions, therefore it is solitary. Because it is associated with emptiness, free from self and what belongs to self, therefore it is emptiness. Because it is free from all characteristics of conditioned phenomena, therefore it is signless. Because it does not desire the three realms, therefore it is wishless. Because there is no manifest fabrication afterwards, therefore it is called non-fabrication. Regarding "dharma and dharmas combine" etc. The mind of enlightenment, the mind of virtuous roots, and the mind of dedication accompany each other, contemplating on this is combination. Regarding these three, contemplating that they are neither in their own nature nor in other's nature, this is observation. Regarding these three, because they are not mind, therefore they are inconceivable. Because it is inconceivable, therefore it is not mind, contemplating on this is the completion of the meaning that has been explained. Like this, also separately examine all dharmas, and there is no attachment to any dharma, this is called expanding in all places, this is the fourth separate examination of selflessness. The virtuous root mind of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, which is not associated with the mind of enlightenment etc., what does this show? Bodhisattva

Therefore, previously, with the conventional intention, this root of virtue is dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete, and fully enlightened Bodhi. After making a general dedication, examining separately in the ultimate way, the mind of the root of virtue, the mind of Bodhi, and the mind of dedication do not accompany each other. Because they do not accompany each other in this way, one thinks separately about whether the dedication exists or not. Here, someone says that even if the minds do not fully accompany each other, nevertheless, the distinctions of actions produced by the power of the previous mind will accompany the later mind together. In the final mind of all, all actions will be completed. Therefore, through this gateway, the minds are fully accompanied. Therefore, in order to refute it, it is said, "What is the mind of the root of virtue, that is not in the mind of Bodhi," and so on. Through the gateway of habitual actions and so on, there is no other mind in that mind. This is the final conclusion. Like this, because the nature of mind is shown to be non-existent, habitual actions and so on, like the horns of a rabbit, sharp and dull things, do not appear. For this reason, it is said that way. Like this, after examining that it does not exist in the nature of others, one also examines it in one's own nature. What is the mind of the root of virtue, that is not in the mind of the root of virtue; what is the mind of Bodhi, that is also not in the mind of Bodhi, and so on. Because for those who see only suchness, there is no such universal examination. Kauśika (Sanskrit Devanagari: कौशिक, Sanskrit Romanization: kauśika, Chinese literal meaning: Kauśika), "What is the mind of the root of virtue, that is not a mind," and so on, only shows suchness. Because the mind, due to its own Dharma nature, is separated from all discriminations of the mind, therefore the nature of no-mind is called the mind of Dharma nature. No-mind does not accompany no-mind, and so on, shows that from what is called the mind of Dharma nature, accompaniment or existence or dedication, all of everything does not appear. At that time, because it is self-realized by each individual, it transcends the path of thought, is inconceivable, and is not a mind. Kauśika (Sanskrit Devanagari: कौशिक, Sanskrit Romanization: kauśika, Chinese literal meaning: Kauśika), this is the mind of a Bodhisattva.
