Then, the term "not being suchness" should also be connected with the distinction of being with defilements and without defilements. Like this, having previously become with defilements, later becoming without defilements, therefore it is impermanent. Thus, for the suchness of impermanence, it should be connected by saying that the decrease of the suchness of form, the suchness of feeling, etc., is not the suchness of complete accomplishment. Also, if it is said like this: "Bhagavan, what is called form is counted as a non-dual number," then, what is called "non-dual" is the Dharma-nature, which is the ultimate truth. To be counted as the number of the ultimate truth is like doing form and feeling, etc. What does this show? It shows that the ultimate truth is only one, which is non-dual. With the words Dharma-nature of form, Dharma-nature of feeling, Dharma-nature of perception, Dharma-nature of mental formation, Dharma-nature of consciousness, etc., the ultimate truth, which is one, that is, non-dual, is divided into many aspects to show, this is the concluding remark. Then, "The venerable Shariputra said this to the venerable Subhuti," with what should this be connected? After just showing the result of non-discriminating mental activity, the elder Subhuti showed four explanations, namely: Bhagavan, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, and thus closely examines these dharmas, at that time he does not grasp, take, or abide in form, nor does he become manifestly attached, this is one. What is called the unborn of form, that is, not form, etc., this is the second. What is called the decrease of form, that is, not form, etc., this is the third. What is called form is counted as a non-dual number, this is the fourth. In order to hear the content that is extracted and widely elaborated from these four explanations, the elder Shariputra asked the question, it should be connected like this. Among them, for the first explanation, taking the three words "When a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, and thus closely examines these dharmas," three questions are raised.

Without being asked, what is a Bodhisattva? What is the Prajñāpāramitā? What is 'near attainment'? These should be explained in order. Bodhi itself is a hero, therefore it is called Bodhisattva. What is called Bodhi refers to the Dharmakāya. All sentient beings are also of the nature of the Dharmakāya, therefore Bodhisattvas are also solely of the nature of Bodhi. Therefore, the essence of Bodhi is the hero, hence the term Bodhisattva. In that case, wouldn't all sentient beings become Bodhisattvas? Generally speaking, wanting to specify, the hero particularly associated with Bodhi is called a Bodhisattva, and there is no fault in this. All other sentient beings who do not seek omniscience and do not accomplish its benefit, because they have no connection with Bodhi, therefore the hero particularly associated with Bodhi is called a Bodhisattva. Therefore, it also shows the special conduct here, that Bodhi also knows the aspects of all dharmas, but there is no attachment to these dharmas, this is known by conventional truth, but in ultimate truth there is no attachment. What aspects? What signs? What characteristics? What is called 'what aspects' refers to the teachings. Signs and characteristics are explanations of it. Names, language, and concepts, etc., are signs. Nature and behavior are characteristics. Venerable Shariputra, what is called Prajñāpāramitā, that is far gone, the wisdom that has gone beyond all dharmas, because it is far from all those dharmas, is called Prajñāpāramitā. Realization through skillful means and reasoning is 'near attainment'. After that, the second explanation is, Venerable Subhuti, why is it said that whatever is the unarisen of form is not form, etc., to show. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, form is empty of form, refers to the form that is conceptually constructed, not the reality of form.
