He abides with all the defiled dharmas of affliction, yet his nature is not defiled by affliction. These six superknowledges, the bodhisattva possesses them in life after life. Even if born in the realm of animals, they do not diminish, hence they are called equal superknowledges. Thus, the bodhisattva endowed with six superknowledges strives only for the benefit of sentient beings. Those sentient beings who are benefited also listen to the words of the bodhisattva with innate joy, and they do not disobey his instructions and subsequent teachings, even for the sake of their lives. Furthermore, those who harbor thoughts of harming him, such as the retinue of demons or non-Buddhists, are also made to uphold my instructions and subsequent teachings through skillful means. Those who are unable to listen to his words are tormented by sensations such as the splitting of their heads, and they are threatened to listen to my words. Except for considering the proper and improper times, there is no sentient being in the realm of sentient beings who disobeys the words of the bodhisattva, for this is the nature of the complete dedication of the merit of gathering things and the power of the merit of the perfections. Therefore, it is called possessing the words of gathering. To show that the bodhisattva endowed with these qualities is pure in practice, it is said that there is no hypocrisy, etc. For those who have fallen into previous grounds, it is impossible to have the actions of wrong livelihood, let alone in the stainless grounds, etc. Here, in the seventh ground, although there are no actions of wrong livelihood, why is it taught? There is no fault in this, although it has been abandoned in the lower levels, this practice with diligence is completed here, so it should be taught at the end. A bodhisattva abiding in the seventh ground should not be called afflicted, nor should he be called unafflicted, because the actions of affliction have been completely abandoned in this ground, thus he possesses the bodily actions of a completely pure superior intention, superior

It is endowed with completely pure speech and mental actions. Those bodily, verbal, and mental actions that are condemned by the Tathagata, all of which do not occur at all, this is the quality of the seventh bhumi. Therefore, in order to show that he does not have bodily actions of wrong livelihood, it is said, "without hypocrisy." To show others bodily actions belonging to conduct in order to make them marvel at the desire for gain is called "hypocrisy." In order to show that there is no impure verbal action, it is said, "without flattery." Verbal actions related to gain, speaking for the sake of desiring gain, is called "flattery." In order to show that there is no impure mental action, it is said, "without the benefit of wisdom and the mind of greed." Good name, speech, fame, and the benefit of wisdom are all included in synonyms. Because he is free from the mind of gain and respect, it is said so. In order to show that there are impure actions, for the sake of being without contamination, it is said, "teaching the Dharma with the mind." Because he is truly motivated by compassion and possesses a mind tamed by wisdom, he teaches the Dharma for the benefit of sentient beings, so it is said so. In this way, in these ways, it shows the qualities of the bodhisattvas below the seventh bhumi practicing without signs with effort. Now, from "the perfection of forbearance towards profound Dharma," etc., it shows the qualities of naturally dwelling in the signless. Just like this, bodhisattvas, from the eighth bhumi onwards, all efforts are cut off, and they have completely transcended all signs and discriminations. Because they are independent and free, there is no effort at all. Although they are very peaceful and without effort, due to the power of past aspirations, they will engage in the activities of benefiting sentient beings, and the practices of the path to enlightenment will manifest. In order to show that the eighth bhumi bodhisattva has obtained forbearance towards the unborn Dharma, it is said, "the perfection of forbearance towards profound Dharma." Just like this, in all aspects, he is free from the conceptualizations of mind, intellect, and consciousness.
