For the benefit of sentient beings, etc., there is no attachment to this either. The dharmas of the aspect of enlightenment are also cultivated, and one cultivates without attachment to nirvana as well. Suchness, the unconditioned, is also cultivated, and one cultivates without attachment to that either. Thus, skillful means are the main thing, and by obtaining the distinction of knowing dharani, it is called obtaining the dharani of non-attachment. Thus, dwelling in a state of non-attachment, one considers samsara and nirvana as equal, and striving in every way solely for the benefit of sentient beings, for the sake of benefiting sentient beings, one equally abides in dhyana, liberation, samadhi, and samapatti, but one does not take birth because of that. Rather, one completely dedicates dhyana, liberation, samadhi, and samapatti to the very purpose of benefiting sentient beings. Thus, having dedicated those for the benefit of sentient beings, for the very purpose of sentient beings, like this, the wisdom of knowing magical abilities, and the divine eye, and the divine ear, and knowing the minds of others, and the wisdom of remembering past lives, and the wisdom of directly realizing the exhaustion of defilements, and the six superknowledges arise. Among these, the wisdom of magical abilities is of two kinds: transformation and emanation. Among these, transformation means moving, burning, raining, pervading, transforming things into other things, going, coming, gathering, expanding, all forms entering the body, going to the presence of beings with similar karma, appearing, disappearing, controlling, subduing the magical powers of others, giving courage, giving mindfulness, giving happiness, emitting light, and so on, and others similar to these. Whatever sentient beings need, that bodhisattva accomplishes. Emanation means that there are three kinds of emanation: body emanation, speech emanation, and place emanation. Among these, body emanation is when the bodhisattva, for the benefit of sentient beings,

Furthermore, they manifest various forms of emanations, such as the forms of gods, nagas, yakshas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, the colors of the pot-bellied beings, as well as the colors of humans, animals, pretas, hell beings, shravakas, pratyekabuddhas, bodhisattvas, and buddhas. In the countless and immeasurable realms of the ten directions, for the benefit of countless and immeasurable beings, they accomplish these diverse emanations of various colors simultaneously in a single instant. What are the speech emanations? Here, bodhisattvas gather and abide with retinues of gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, shravakas, and bodhisattvas, from the mandala of a yojana's circumference to the small thousand worlds, the middle thousand worlds, the great thousand worlds, and throughout the countless and immeasurable realms of the ten directions. They make themselves known through the sounds of emanations, and from those sounds, they also teach various aspects of the Dharma to sentient beings, or they cause other emanations to do so. They also emit sounds of teaching the Dharma from the sky, encouraging those with faith in various places. What are the object emanations? For the sake of sentient beings who are lacking in resources, bodhisattvas manifest emanations of food, drink, vehicles, clothing, wealth, jewels, mani jewels, and so on. If they are needed only for a moment, they transform only for that moment. If they are truly blessed at any time, they transform for as long as that time lasts. Thus, they benefit by knowing how to perform miraculous deeds. By the miracles of their magical powers, they cause sentient beings to develop desire, and then they cause them to enter the Buddha's teachings. Or they benefit sentient beings with various kinds of suffering. Second Chapter By taking hold of the knowledge of remembering past lives, they remember the past actions of sentient beings, know what is in accordance with them, and then teach the Dharma, and so on.

He also does this. Furthermore, recollecting the most extraordinary conduct of the Bodhisattva, he correctly proclaims it in order to generate correct faith in sentient beings. To those who speak of permanence and those who speak of annihilation, he shows the previous reasoning, which destroys all views. Because of this knowledge, he also remembers his own past lives. He also remembers the past lives of other beings. He also causes other beings to remember their own past lives. Through the divine ear, he hears the distressed sounds of suffering beings in hells, animals, hungry ghosts, and humans, and strives to eliminate their suffering. He also hears various Buddha-fields, or the various different teachings that exist in this world. He also hears various sounds of encouragement. Through the divine eye, the Bodhisattva sees the various virtuous and non-virtuous actions of sentient beings in the ten directions and benefits them accordingly. He also sees the Tathagata teaching the Dharma in the midst of many retinues in those Buddha-fields. Through knowing the minds of others, he knows the minds of other beings that are associated with desire, hatred, and so on, and benefits them accordingly. Knowing the various different faculties, conduct, realms, latent tendencies, and so on of sentient beings, he teaches the Dharma accordingly. Through the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements, the Bodhisattva truly knows when his own or others' defilements have been exhausted, truly knows whether his own defilements have been exhausted or not, and truly knows whether others' defilements have been exhausted or not. He also knows the means and non-means for exhausting the defilements of himself and others. He also knows the pride and truth of others who have attained the exhaustion of defilements. All those Bodhisattvas know this well, and thus they directly realize the exhaustion of defilements themselves. They also know well the contaminated and uncontaminated things. The Bodhisattva is the wisdom of the exhaustion of defilements.
