It is by examining separately what is untimely and what is opportune, what is with fortune and what is without fortune, and what is meaningful and what is meaningless, that one abandons them; it is not otherwise. This is the sixth. It is impossible for aspiration to be completely diminished. It is impossible for diligence to be completely diminished. It is impossible for mindfulness to be completely diminished. It is impossible for samadhi to be completely diminished. It is impossible for wisdom to be completely diminished. It is impossible for liberation to be completely diminished. It is impossible for the vision of the wisdom of liberation to be completely diminished. That which is called Arhats, due to the power of their sphere of activity, naturally do not generate aspiration for the state of Buddhahood and the activities of the Buddha; they only generate aspiration for the activities of the Hearers. Similarly, the diligence, mindfulness, samadhi, wisdom, liberation, and the vision of the wisdom of liberation of the state of Buddhahood, these are not possessed by the Hearers. Therefore, since the seven qualities beginning with aspiration are not attained, they are completely diminished, and thus they are completely diminished. The Buddhas do not have the case of not having attained special qualities, because they have realized all phenomena, so there is not even a little diminution. For example, the Buddhas constantly and continuously generate aspiration to benefit sentient beings at all times. They generate aspiration for qualities such as great love and great compassion, to teach the Dharma, to fully ripen sentient beings, and after correctly taking the mind of enlightenment, they continuously generate aspiration to not cut off the lineage of the Three Jewels. The Tathagata never experiences physical or mental fatigue in all diligence. The Tathagata, even for the sake of one sentient being, teaches the Dharma without eating for an eon. The Tathagata transcends Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, and goes to wherever there is a single sentient being who can be tamed by the Buddha. The Tathagata's mindfulness also does not have complete diminution. For example, after the Tathagata attained unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, the minds of all sentient beings of the past, future, and present

All conduct, all deportment, all thoughts, all predispositions, all afflictions, all faculties, and so forth, all methods of taming sentient beings, all benefits for sentient beings, all deeds of the Buddhas, how the Dharma is conceived, and all visions are placed on the path of mindfulness. Therefore, later, wisdom is not abandoned. The mindfulness of the Thus-Gone One is such that it never completely diminishes. The samadhi of the Thus-Gone One also never completely diminishes, because it is equally placed in the suchness of all sentient beings and all dharmas. By the equality of suchness, all dharmas are equally placed. Therefore, suchness is called samadhi. This suchness is also like space, in which there is neither increase nor decrease, and it is always thus. Therefore, it is suchness, and therefore samadhi does not diminish. Wisdom does not completely diminish, such as the inexhaustible knowledge of the conduct of the minds of all sentient beings, the inexhaustible knowledge of teaching the Dharma, the inexhaustible knowledge of completely maturing sentient beings, and the inexhaustible knowledge of being skilled in individual correct knowledge, and so forth. Liberation also does not completely diminish. As for liberation, the liberation of the Hearers follows sound, the liberation of the Solitary Buddhas follows conditions, and the liberation of the Buddhas follows the nature of reality. This is liberation from the obscuration of afflictions, liberation from the obscuration of knowledge, liberation by entering into meditative absorption for the sake of the result, and liberation from non-abiding nirvana. All those liberations are inexhaustible, and like space, they engage in the benefit of sentient beings for as long as samsara exists. Therefore, liberation does not completely diminish. Just as liberation does not completely diminish, so too the wisdom vision of liberation does not completely diminish. This is the twelfth dharma. All activities of the body are preceded by wisdom.
