If there are no completely purified dharmas such as the six perfections, then the result of these dharmas, the omniscient wisdom itself, will also not exist. If that is the case, then no one will manifest the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha, and there will be such a fault. Subhuti asked. Subhuti emphasized and asked in this way, also in order to eliminate the doubts that the retinue might have, and to explain in detail that in the ultimate truth, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence and cannot be expressed, but in the relative truth, if one skillfully practices and dedicates, the meaning that there will be no lack of results, and to make a distinction for the occasion. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, it is just so, it is just so. There is no increase or decrease in the meaning that cannot be expressed. Subhuti emphasized and asked earlier, in order to make the retinue believe, so he taught that this is true. Subhuti, if a bodhisattva mahasattva who is skillful in means practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, from this phrase to dedicating it as it is to the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment, it is said that in the way described above, in the ultimate truth, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence and cannot be expressed, but in the relative truth, if one skillfully practices in the Perfection of Wisdom, the six perfections also have no entity in the ultimate truth, so understanding that these are only names, one will not give rise to the arrogance of increasing with the six perfections, but in the relative truth, if one skillfully dedicates these roots of virtue to the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment, one will manifest the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. That is to say, dedicating it as it is to the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment is to show that the dedication is completely pure, meaning that one dedicates without clinging to entities and without obvious attachment. He asked: Blessed One, what is the unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment like?

In short, the suchness of all dharmas and the unsurpassed Bodhi are not different in terms of ultimate nature. Therefore, I asked to distinguish the occasion of teaching them as one. The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, whatever is the suchness of all dharmas is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment." This means that realizing the emptiness of the nature of all dharmas is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. There is no other unsurpassed perfect enlightenment apart from that. Asked: "Blessed One, what is the suchness of all dharmas that is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment?" This is because, earlier, it was briefly said that whatever is the suchness of all dharmas is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Subhuti asked in order to distinguish the occasion of explaining in detail to the retinue what all dharmas refer to. The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, whatever is the suchness of form is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment," and so on, "Whatever is the suchness of all-knowingness is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Whatever is the suchness of Nirvana is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment." This is up to the end, referring to enumerating each of the dharmas from form, etc., up to all-knowingness and Nirvana, explaining that the emptiness of the nature of all those dharmas, the suchness, is the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Apart from that, there is no such thing as unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. That neither increases nor decreases. This means that the suchness of all dharmas and the undifferentiated unsurpassed perfect enlightenment are completely established as naturally pure and unchanging. Therefore, it does not increase in the aspect of purification, nor does it decrease in the aspect of affliction. That is the meaning. Subhuti, for that Bodhi

The Bodhisattva Mahasattva, inseparable from the Perfection of Wisdom, constantly and continuously practices in accordance with reality, and does not truly see any increase or decrease in any dharma. This refers to the Bodhisattva's skillful means, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom in accordance with reality, constantly and continuously practicing and abiding in the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment that is no different from the reality of all dharmas, and therefore does not consider any dharma to have increase or decrease. Subhuti, thus the meaning of the inexpressible is neither increase nor decrease, and even the unique dharmas of the Buddhas have neither increase nor decrease. Subhuti, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should practice the Perfection of Wisdom in the manner of neither increase nor decrease, and so on, which is to say that the meaning of the inexpressible is summarized and explained with neither increase nor decrease. Thus, all dharmas are empty in nature, and because they are inexpressible, there is no increase. If one practices the Perfection of Wisdom in the manner of no decrease, one will manifest the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, thus instructing Subhuti. Supplication: Blessed One, why? Does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who first generates the mind manifest the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, etc., refers to from where one is inseparable from the Perfection of Wisdom, dedicating with skillful means, the teaching that one will manifest the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, to asking in what way one will manifest the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment; although asking with what mind one generates to manifest enlightenment, it is in order to separately explain the profound meaning of dependent origination to the retinue. The so-called first generation of mind refers to the first time that ordinary beings generate the mind of enlightenment.
