"Is the mind separate from Suchness?" This question is asked from the perspective of ultimate truth. The answer, "Bhagavan, it is not," means that in ultimate truth, the mind is not separate from Suchness. The questions, "Does Suchness exist in the mind?" and "Does the mind exist in Suchness?" are asked because if the mind is not separate from Suchness, then do these two exist in a relationship of basis and support? The answer, "Bhagavan, it is not," means that these two are of one taste in the nature of emptiness, therefore the mind is not separate from Suchness, nor do two real entities exist in a relationship of basis and support. The question, "Does Suchness not truly see Suchness?" means that the mind and Suchness are of one taste in emptiness, and there is no difference in the nature of Suchness, therefore it shows that the object to be observed and the subject that observes are inseparable. The Bhagavan taught, "Subhuti, what do you think? Is one who practices in that way not practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom?" This means that realizing such a profound Dharma of no birth and no cessation is practicing in the Perfection of Wisdom. The question, "In what does one who practices in that way practice?" is asked because one who practices in the Perfection of Wisdom is asking in order to be liberated from clinging to reality. The answer, "One who practices in that way does not practice in anything," means that one who realizes no birth and no cessation in this way does not cling to reality. Why is that? Bhagavan, because Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who practice in the Perfection of Wisdom in this way and abide in Suchness, those thoughts of discrimination do not arise or enter. This is to explain the reason for not practicing in anything, meaning that for those who practice in the Perfection of Wisdom and abide in Suchness, the practice of clinging to reality and discrimination does not arise. Why is that? Bhagavan, because Suchness does not fully operate anywhere.

To say "there is no movement of anything in that itself" is to show the reason why the movement of the mind does not arise. Because, in the ultimate sense, the mind is also the nature of Suchness, there is no conception or movement in any dharma, and in the nature of Suchness, there is no movement of any dharma in that either. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, where does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom practice? This is asking, does he not practice anywhere? The answer is: He practices in the ultimate truth where there is no movement of duality. This is not to say that he does not practice anywhere, but that he practices in the ultimate truth that is without the conceptualization of the two, the grasped and the grasper. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Is that which practices in the ultimate truth not practicing in pervasive movement? Is it not practicing in signs? This is asking, if one practices in the ultimate truth in this way, will it not become practicing in conceptualization and signs? The answer is: Blessed One, it is not so. This is to say that practicing in the ultimate truth is merely a verbal expression, but in reality, there is no notion of practice or clinging to signs. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Is he destroying the notion of signs? This is asking, if it is not practicing in pervasive movement and practicing in signs in this way, then is the notion of signs collapsing and being destroyed? The answer is: Blessed One, it is not so. This is to say that in the ultimate truth, all dharmas are empty by nature, so there is no way to destroy the notion of signs. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, then how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva destroy the notion of signs? This is asking, if there is no way to destroy the notion of signs in this way, then how is it that the notion of signs is completely abandoned in the scriptures? The answer is: Blessed One, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom destroys signs in this way.

Or to fabricate, or to think that the signless should be destroyed, not to make this thought, that is, to be attached to the sign, and also to abandon the discriminating mind that is attached to the signless, and also not to think of abandoning it, this itself is the meaning of destroying the consciousness of the sign. World Honored One, Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices this Prajnaparamita, from "is" to "in order to know that all dharmas are empty of their own nature", it means that even if in the ultimate truth all dharmas are understood to be empty of their own nature, the discriminating mind and the attachment to signs have ceased, but in the conventional truth, with skillful means, the Tathagata's ten powers etc. are perfected, and the unexcelled perfect enlightenment is manifested, and no dharma is regarded as real or unreal. From "abiding in the emptiness of one's own nature" to "Subhuti, thus Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita, abides in the three samadhis, and causes all sentient beings to mature", it means that after understanding that all dharmas are empty of their own nature in the ultimate truth, in the conventional truth, with skillful means, abiding in the samadhi of the three doors of liberation, thus showing the skillful means of causing sentient beings to mature. The forty-second chapter of the extensive commentary on the Hundred Thousand Verses of Prajnaparamita. The forty-second chapter, the chapter on skillful means.
