It refers to the absence of things. Whatever is absent of things is not inherently existent in the nature of form, etc., and therefore is not an object of conceptualization. Thus, not conceptualizing is the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom, that is its meaning. Sharadvatiputra asked: "O Bhagavan, this Perfection of Wisdom is so profound!" From "properly attending to it" to "will properly attend to it," it explains that this profound Perfection of Wisdom, if taught to those newly entering the Great Vehicle and those who have not yet become familiar with the meaning of the Great Vehicle, will become a fault; if taught to non-retreating Bodhisattvas, it will become a virtue. This also shows that this Perfection of Wisdom is so profound that it is not the object of practice for everyone. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra, from "said thus" to "there is also such a difficult place to attain complete and perfect enlightenment," it elaborately explains the fault of teaching the profound Dharma to a non-receptacle if this profound Perfection of Wisdom is taught to a Bodhisattva who has newly entered the Great Vehicle. From "Indra said" to "will be prophesied up to the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment," it explains that the profound meaning should not be taught to Bodhisattvas who have newly entered the Great Vehicle, so the Perfection of Wisdom should be taught to non-retreating Bodhisattvas. It is asked whether there are some Bodhisattvas who are neither newly entered into the Great Vehicle nor non-retreating, and if the meaning of this profound Perfection of Wisdom is taught to them, they will not be afraid or fearful and will become vessels. The answer is that there are indeed such people, they are neither newly entered into the Great Vehicle nor non-retreating Bodhisattvas, some people, after hearing the meaning of this profound Perfection of Wisdom, will not be afraid or fearful, and will soon receive prophecy, indicating that there are also such fortunate ones.

From the point where the Blessed One addressed the venerable Sharadvatiputra, saying, "To the point of having revered many Buddhas," this section is for the sake of making those Bodhisattvas who are neither newly entered into the Great Vehicle nor non-returning Bodhisattvas also become vessels of this profound Prajnaparamita. In order to make the aforementioned retinues have faith, the Blessed One explained in detail with reason. Sharadvatiputra asked: "Blessed One, please explain that simile, I am capable." From here, to "Those sons and daughters of good families should be known as non-returning from unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment," this section is to show that those who practice Prajnaparamita are not ordinary beings, but non-returning Bodhisattvas. Blessed One, for example, a person comes from a wilderness a hundred yojanas away, from here to "What is the reason for that? Because, seeing, paying homage to, and listening to this profound Prajnaparamita is the precursor to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment," this section is to show the simile that having faith in and diligently striving for this profound Prajnaparamita will undoubtedly accomplish unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment. The wilderness is a simile for samsara. Towns and cities, etc., should be understood as similes for nirvana. The Blessed One said: "Sharadvatiputra, it is just so, it is just so. Sharadvatiputra, may you generate courage again through the power of the Buddha," this is to make the retinues have faith. The previous simile was also shown by the power of the Buddha, praising, "Well done." Then, please also show the latter simile with the power of the Buddha. Asked: "Blessed One, for example, a person wants to see the great ocean, from here to after hearing, one can also grasp, also cut off, also recite, also fully understand, and properly apply the mind."

The passage from "Therefore, it should be known" to "should be known" explains that a Bodhisattva who has faith in and diligently practices this profound Prajñāpāramitā, even if not directly prophesied to attain unsurpassed Bodhi, is close to being prophesied. Just as one who has not directly seen the great ocean, but is close to the ocean, seeing various omens and signs, will soon see the ocean. O Blessed One, just as when spring arrives, the leaves and petals of plants wither and their colors change, from "with previous roots of virtue, they are close to unsurpassed, perfect Bodhi" to "should be known," it explains that in springtime, the signs of old leaves withering and new leaves, flowers, and fruits growing are the changing colors of plants and the budding of flowers. Seeing these, one soon knows that leaves, flowers, and fruits will grow abundantly, bringing joy and comfort. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who contemplates and listens to this profound Prajñāpāramitā and practices it in various ways has fully matured the roots of virtue from previous lives, and this is a sign of approaching unsurpassed Bodhi, which should be known. Therefore, sons of the gods, those who have seen countless Buddhas in the past, from "rejoicing and being joyful, with ease of mind and body" to "will become," explains that in order to make the audience believe in the signs of a Bodhisattva practicing Prajñāpāramitā approaching unsurpassed Bodhi, the sons of the gods are shown as witnesses. O Blessed One, just as a pregnant woman, from "O Blessed One, those Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas will soon be"
