Thirty-first, the chapter on the Northern Lineage. Thirty-first, the chapter on the Northern Lineage. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, thought: Thus and so forth. As previously stated, after Indra heard this profoundly deep Prajñāpāramitā, through explaining the rarity of hearing, upholding, etc., it shows that this profound Prajñāpāramitā is rare and difficult to believe in. The saying, "Whoever, whether son or daughter of good family, hears this Prajñāpāramitā, has paid homage to the previous Buddhas," means: If not for meager merit, even the name and words of this Prajñāpāramitā will not be heard; only those who have paid homage to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past will hear its name and words. This is what is being taught. The saying, "Whoever, whatever sentient being, hears this Prajñāpāramitā, has planted roots of virtue with the Tathāgata," means: Only those who have paid homage to the Tathāgatas who are present now and have planted roots of virtue will hear the name and words of this profound Prajñāpāramitā; others will not hear it. This is the meaning. The saying, "Whoever, whatever sentient being, hears this Prajñāpāramitā, is held by a virtuous friend," means: Only those who are completely taken by a virtuous friend who teaches the meaning of the Great Vehicle without distortion will hear this profound Prajñāpāramitā; others will not even hear it. This is what is being taught. From "Whoever upholds and holds" to "What need is there to mention diligently practicing such Prajñāpāramitā?" means: If even hearing the name and words of this Prajñāpāramitā is so rare, what need is there to mention realizing its meaning without distortion and practicing it? The saying, "Whoever, whether son or daughter of good family, hears this Prajñāpāramitā and is not afraid, not alarmed, not terrified,"

Those, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyaksambuddhas of the past, have all universally inquired and universally requested. It means that among the Buddhas of the past, those who are good at listening to this Prajnaparamita and have no doubts, will not feel fear and fear after hearing it, but will praise and believe; others will not do so. This is what is to be explained. Whether it is a son or daughter of good family, after hearing this Prajnaparamita, until "practicing Prajnaparamita", it refers to those who have practiced and become accustomed to the six paramitas for countless kalpas in the past life, after hearing this profound Prajnaparamita, they will not feel fear and fear, but will believe and believe; others cannot do so. This is what is to be explained. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Blessed One, until "hearing this profound Prajnaparamita and not being able to believe", it refers to those who hear and practice this Prajnaparamita, not ordinary Bodhisattvas, but similar to non-returning Bodhisattvas. Because the six paramitas were not practiced in the past life, it is impossible to think about and believe in the meaning of this profound Prajnaparamita. This is what is to be explained. Blessed One, whether it is a son or daughter of good family, after hearing this profound Prajnaparamita, those who have the mind of abandoning, because in the past life they also abandoned this profound Prajnaparamita, until "how to practice the eighteen unshared Buddha dharmas" they did not universally ask or universally inquire. It means that those who do not believe, do not believe, and slander after hearing this profound Prajnaparamita, because in the past life they also did not believe, did not believe, and slandered this Prajnaparamita, and did not serve and respect the Buddha, Bodhisattva, Shravaka, and Pratyekabuddha, and the dharma from the six paramitas to the eighteen unshared Buddha dharmas

It is taught that this is the answer to those who have not heard or asked how to practice and meditate. Then, from the statement of the Lord of the Gods, Indra, to the son of Sharadvati, the Venerable One, saying, "Thus I speak," to "What is so amazing about not being devoted to the All-Knowing One?" it is said that because this Prajnaparamita is extremely profound, only a few who have previously practiced and become accustomed to the conduct of a Bodhisattva will develop faith and devotion. Those who have not previously practiced and become accustomed to the conduct of a Bodhisattva will not develop devotion and faith in this profound Prajnaparamita. What is so amazing about that? This also shows that this Prajnaparamita is profound and difficult to believe in. Venerable son of Sharadvati, I pay homage to the Prajnaparamita. This means that Indra, having realized the profound meaning of the Prajnaparamita mentioned above, developed great faith in the Prajnaparamita and paid homage to it. Whoever pays homage to the Prajnaparamita is paying homage to the wisdom of the All-Knowing One. This means that since the wisdom of the All-Knowing One also arises from this Prajnaparamita, paying homage to the cause is also paying homage to the result. Then, from the statement of the Bhagavan to the Lord of the Gods, Indra, to "Prajnaparamita is also spoken from the wisdom of the All-Knowing One," the Bhagavan clearly explained the meaning of what Indra said. The wisdom of the All-Knowing One arises from the Prajnaparamita, and after attaining the wisdom of the All-Knowing One, the Prajnaparamita is also taught. Therefore, since these two are mutually cause and effect, paying homage to the Prajnaparamita is indeed paying homage to the wisdom of the All-Knowing One. Kausika, a son or daughter of good family who wishes to abide in the All-Knowing One should abide in the Prajnaparamita, until the gathering of the Sangha of monks.
