In order to distinguish when explaining these meanings in detail, if it is said that because all phenomena such as form are completely pure, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure, this is Subhuti's question to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, form is without arising, without ceasing, without defilement, without purification, this is the complete purity of form. From this, until all-knowingness is without arising, without ceasing, without defilement, without purification, that is, all-knowingness is completely pure, it is because all phenomena such as form are empty of self-nature in the ultimate sense. Therefore, the absence of arising, the absence of ceasing, the absence of defilement, and the absence of purification themselves are called complete purity. This is to explain that it is not called complete purity because of the separation of faults or stains from something that exists. Furthermore, Subhuti, because space is completely pure, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This is to show the complete purity of the Perfection of Wisdom by taking space as an example. Just as space, although obscured by sudden clouds and fog, the nature of space is still completely pure and does not become impure because of this, similarly, although the Perfection of Wisdom is obscured by the phenomena of conceptual imputation, its nature is still completely pure and does not become impure because of this. Question: Blessed One, how is the Perfection of Wisdom completely pure because space is completely pure? This is Subhuti's question in order to distinguish the occasion for explaining that space and the Perfection of Wisdom have no meaning of arising and ceasing, etc. The Blessed One said: Because of the absence of arising, the absence of ceasing, the absence of defilement, and the absence of purification, space is completely pure. This is to say that space has no arising and ceasing, etc., therefore it is completely pure. Similarly, the Perfection of Wisdom also has no arising and ceasing, etc., therefore it is completely pure.
