Napo o. Subhuti, because space has no beginning, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This shows that just as space is pure by its very nature and is not stained by any faults or impurities, so too is the Perfection of Wisdom completely pure. Question: World Honored One, since space has no beginning, how is the Perfection of Wisdom completely pure? This is the question asked by Subhuti in order to distinguish between the different situations when explaining the meaning of the absence of the grasper and the grasped. The World Honored One taught: Subhuti, because space cannot be grasped, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This shows that just as space has neither grasper nor grasped and is completely pure, so too the Perfection of Wisdom has no conceptualization of grasper and grasped, and is therefore completely pure. Subhuti, because space has no terms, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This shows that space itself is neither the nature of speaking and applying terms, nor is it the nature of being spoken and termed by others, just as it is completely pure, so too the Perfection of Wisdom is free from the terms of the speaker and the spoken, and is therefore completely pure. Question: World Honored One, since space has no terms, how is the Perfection of Wisdom completely pure? This is the question asked in order to distinguish the situation of taking the example of space having no terms and using sound images to explain it. The World Honored One taught: Subhuti, it is like this, for example, like the sound of two sound images in space, because space has no terms, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This shows that whether it is a person making a sound or a sound coming from a rock, both sounds resonate in the empty space, but space is neither the nature of speaking nor of speaking, nor is it the nature of sound, just as it is completely pure, so too the Perfection of Wisdom is only speaking and speaking in conventional truth, but in ultimate truth, it is neither the nature of the speaker nor the spoken, so it is

Therefore, it is shown to be completely pure. Subhuti, because the sky is inexpressible, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This is because the sky is empty in nature and does not speak or express anything. Similarly, the Perfection of Wisdom is also empty in nature in the ultimate sense and does not speak or express anything. Therefore, it is shown to be completely pure. Question: World Honored One, how is it that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure because the sky is inexpressible? This is asked to elaborate on the concise meaning of being completely pure because of being inexpressible, and to distinguish the occasion for explanation. The World Honored One said: Subhuti, nothing can be expressed in the sky. Subhuti, similarly, because the sky is inexpressible, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This is because both the sky and the Perfection of Wisdom are empty in nature and are not of the nature of being spoken or speaking, therefore it is shown to be completely pure. Subhuti, furthermore, because the sky has no object of focus, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This is because both the sky and the Perfection of Wisdom are empty in nature and are not objects of focus or the subject of focus, therefore it is shown that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. Question: World Honored One, how is it that the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure because the sky has no object of focus? This is what Subhuti asked in order to clearly explain the above meaning. The World Honored One said: Subhuti, there is nothing to focus on in the sky. Subhuti, similarly, because it is without focus like the sky, the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure. This is because just as there is nothing to focus on or any object of focus in the sky, so too in the non-conceptual Perfection of Wisdom, there is no object of focus or subject of focus, because it is not tainted by the faults of grasping and being grasped, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely

This is to show where it is pure. Furthermore, Subhuti, from "all dharmas are without arising, without ceasing," etc., to "Subhuti, all dharmas are extremely pure, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom is completely pure," it is because all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas are empty of inherent existence and extremely pure in ultimate truth. There is no arising, ceasing, etc. Likewise, the Perfection of Wisdom is also empty of inherent existence in ultimate truth, and because there is no arising, ceasing, etc., it is shown to be completely pure. Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, if a son of good family or daughter of good family, etc.," to "the accumulation of merit is great, immeasurable, countless, inconceivable, incomparable, unmeasurable, unfathomable, and will increase greatly," it is after showing that the Perfection of Wisdom is extremely completely pure in this way, in order to generate faith in the retinue for this completely pure Perfection of Wisdom, the qualities that are beneficial in this life and turn into merit are shown, and the others are just repetitions. "One will not die without abandoning discomfort" means that one will not be deprived of life by sudden sufferings such as poison and weapons. "On the eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days, a great assembly of gods will gather" means that in the place where the Perfection of Wisdom is taught, in those six times, the great powerful gods of the world gather and come to protect and bless. The twenty-third day is called the eighth day of the dark moon, the twenty-ninth day is called the fourteenth day of the dark moon, and the day of the empty sky is called the fifteenth day of the dark moon. The scripture mentions the eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth days, referring to both the waxing and waning moons, so it should be understood as six times. Subhuti, why is that? For example, from "this Perfection of Wisdom is a jewel" to "produces perfect enlightenment," it is for the benefit of future lives.
