Relying on the Perfection of Wisdom of the Perfectly Complete Buddha, regarding the immeasurable mind of other sentient beings and individuals, knowing as it is that it is an immeasurable mind, up to (this phrase), it shows the knowledge of the conduct of the minds of sentient beings in the formless realm. Because formless sentient beings abide in the samadhi of the sphere of infinite space and so on, they do not rely on objects such as form, and their object of focus is immeasurable, therefore it is called immeasurable. Since those minds are without objects in the ultimate sense, they do not abide in the sphere of infinite space, therefore they do not truly observe their abode. Because they do not abide in the sphere of infinite consciousness, they do not truly observe their abiding. Because they do not abide in the sphere of nothingness, they do not truly observe their complete abiding. Because they do not abide in the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, they do not truly observe their near abiding. Thus, because the mind has no object, it is called knowing as it is when one understands that the mind stream has no basis and is immeasurable. Subhuti, furthermore, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, relying on this Perfection of Wisdom, regarding the unmanifest mind of other sentient beings and individuals, knowing as it is that it is an unmanifest mind, up to (this phrase). Subhuti, thus, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, relying on this profound Perfection of Wisdom, regarding the unmanifest mind of other sentient beings and individuals, knowing as it is that it is called the unmanifest mind.

Because it is empty of its own nature, seeing the absence of nature is called knowing as it is. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, relying on this profound Prajnaparamita, knows as it is the invisible mind of other sentient beings and individuals, which is called the invisible mind. Subhuti, thus, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, relying on this profound Prajnaparamita, knows as it is the invisible mind of other sentient beings and individuals, which is called the invisible mind. This shows the knowledge of the conduct of the invisible minds of sentient beings, each invisible to the other. In reality, those minds are without substance, and even the five eyes of the Tathagata cannot see them. Knowing this is called knowing as it is. The five eyes of the Tathagata have already been explained above. Furthermore, Subhuti, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, relying on this profound Prajnaparamita, knows as it is the scattered mind, gathered mind, expanded mind, and contracted mind of other sentient beings and individuals. This refers to the knowledge of the conduct of the minds of those with distorted views, who grasp the five aggregates as self, and who hold to permanence, annihilation, addition, and subtraction. The scattered mind is the mind that grasps self and the world as permanent. The gathered mind is the mind that grasps annihilation. The expanded mind is the mind of addition. The contracted mind is the mind of subtraction. Subhuti, in this, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, knows that all the scattered mind, gathered mind, expanded mind, and contracted mind that arise and occur in other sentient beings and individuals depend on form, depend on feeling, depend on perception, depend on formation.

depending on. Depending on consciousness, it arises and occurs. Regarding other beings and the minds of those other individuals, fully understanding those minds, this refers to the heretics who cling to permanence and annihilation, and those who slander, grasping the five aggregates as self. Thus, they come to view permanence, annihilation, and so forth. In reality, it is merely the five aggregates, and the Tathagata fully understands as it is that there is no such thing as "self." This is what is taught. Therefore, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, regarding other beings and the minds of other individuals, such as scattering, gathering, dispersing, and contracting, fully understands them in this way, and so on. The heretics cling to permanence and annihilation, and those who slander view the actions of the mind as scattering, gathering, dispersing, and contracting. Understanding these is to separate and explain in detail the meanings previously mentioned. The statement, "Self and the world are impermanent, this is the truth, and the rest is meaningless," refers to dwelling in form. This refers to dwelling in feeling. This refers to dwelling in perception. This refers to dwelling in mental formations. This refers to dwelling in consciousness. The statement, "Self and the world are impermanent, this is the truth, and the rest is meaningless," refers to dwelling in form. This refers to dwelling in feeling. This refers to dwelling in perception. This refers to dwelling in mental formations. This refers to dwelling in consciousness. This refers to the scattering of the mind's actions of heretics who view permanence, that both self and the world are truly permanent. Saying such things is true, but other statements of impermanence are unintelligent speech, not true, meaningless, and false. Those people, in reality, have no "self," but merely grasp the five aggregates as self and speak. This is what is taught. Therefore, this shows the understanding of the scattering of the mind's actions of those who view permanence. The statement, "Self and the world are impermanent, this is the truth, and the rest is meaningless," refers to dwelling in form. This refers to dwelling in feeling. This refers to dwelling in perception. This refers to dwelling in mental formations. This refers to dwelling in consciousness. This refers to the understanding of the gathering of the mind's actions of heretics who view annihilation. Some heretics believe that both self and the world are impermanent, clinging to annihilation, this is the truth, permanence.
