Because in reality, there is no such thing that needs to be protected, striving and struggling for nothing is meaningless, this is what is to be shown. Kauśika, what do you think? Can you guard, protect, and save illusions, mirages, dreams, gandharva cities, optical illusions, and emanations? From here, Kauśika, what do you think? Can you guard, protect, and save the realm of Dharma, the ultimate limit, suchness, and the inconceivable realm? Indra said: Venerable Subhuti, I cannot. The Blessed One said: Kauśika, similarly, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices Prajnaparamita, whoever thinks to guard, protect, and save, their thoughts will not be realized, and they will become a person with a weary fate. Up to here, it is shown through metaphors such as illusions that a Bodhisattva practicing Prajnaparamita cannot guard and save because there is no thing in the ultimate truth. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, said this to the venerable Subhuti, from here until "not being arrogant about emanations," it is to distinguish how much the previously mentioned dreams and illusions, etc., can realize that all phenomena are similar to illusions, etc., and after realizing that all phenomena are similar to illusions, etc., they will not become arrogant about dreams and illusions, etc. In order to show this situation in detail to the retinue, Indra asked Subhuti the question. Subhuti said: Kauśika, if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, when practicing Prajnaparamita, does not become arrogant about form, does not become arrogant because of form, does not become arrogant about form, etc., it is because they realize that all phenomena such as form are without things in the ultimate truth. If they do not discriminate against them and do not cling to characteristics, then they will also realize that all phenomena are similar to illusions, etc., and it also shows how not to become arrogant about them. Therefore,

The meaning of "not being arrogant about form" is to truly realize that form has no inherent existence, and therefore not to think, "This is form," not to cling to the characteristics of form, and not to think in this way. The meaning of "not generating arrogance through form" is not to think, "This form can accomplish such and such a real thing." The meaning of "not being arrogant towards form" is not to think that form can bring such and such benefits or harms. In this way, if one does not generate arrogance towards form, then regarding dreams and so on, because one realizes their lack of inherent existence, one will not generate arrogance towards dreams, illusions, mirages, sounds, optical illusions, and emanations. This is what is being taught. Just as it is said about form, so too, regarding each and every dharma up to the point of all-knowingness, one should combine them with dreams, illusions, mirages, sounds, optical illusions, and emanations, and understand that one does not generate arrogance. Then, through the power of the Buddha, in this great trichiliocosm, from the gods of the Four Great Kings' retinue onwards, up to the thousand Buddhas of the upper direction, all teach the Dharma with these very words, all possess these very names, and all are asked about this profound Prajnaparamita and the chapters of the Prajnaparamita by the bhikshu named Subhuti. At that time, the lord of the gods, Indra, asked about and completely questioned the chapters of the Prajnaparamita, and it appeared in his mind. Up to this point, it is to cause the gods of the desire realm and the gods of the form realm to generate even greater faith in this Prajnaparamita, so in the Buddha-fields of the ten directions, there are also many Buddhas named Shakyamuni who teach this profound Prajnaparamita, and the bhikshu named Subhuti also dispels doubts and attains realization, and the lord of the gods, Indra, asks and completely realizes it. The Tathagata, through his blessings and power, caused many gods to see these visions. Then, the Bhagavan

From "Thus spoke the Blessed One to the venerable Subhuti," to "will also teach and explain this perfection of wisdom," it is also to generate greater faith in this perfection of wisdom among the retinue. Not only is the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha now teaching this perfection of wisdom, but also in the future, Maitreya Bodhisattva and the bodhisattvas who will manifest complete perfect enlightenment in this fortunate kalpa will also teach and explain this perfection of wisdom. This is what is to be explained. Question: Blessed One, by what manner, what sign, what characteristic, etc., is asking how Maitreya Bodhisattva will teach this perfection of wisdom in the future. After asking in this way, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti, etc., is to explain how Maitreya Bodhisattva will teach this profound Dharma of the perfection of wisdom in the future, that is, in the ultimate truth, form is empty of its own nature and without substance, not relying on permanence and impermanence, happiness and suffering, self and non-self, beauty and ugliness, peace and non-peace, bondage and liberation, past and future, present arising, etc., nor teaching the Dharma with characteristics. This is what is said. Just as it is said about form, so too should it be applied to all dharmas from feeling, etc., up to all-knowingness. Question: Blessed One, how will the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya teach the Dharma after manifesting unsurpassed complete perfect enlightenment? What will he teach when he teaches? This is to say that, in the manner described above, if all dharmas such as form are empty of their own nature in the ultimate truth, and one does not teach permanence and impermanence, etc., about them, then how will one teach everything? If form, etc., are empty of their own nature and do not exist, then what will one teach? Subhuti asked the Blessed One.
