From "Thus spoke Ra" to "If one conceives of all-knowingness as emptiness, that is attachment," it is Shariputra asking Subhuti about the characteristics of attachment and non-attachment; and if one conceives of emptiness with attachment and signs, contemplating form and so on up to all-knowingness, even that is attachment to the extreme of emptiness. From "Furthermore, Sharadvatiputra, a son or daughter of good family of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, if unskilled in means, conceives of past dharmas as past dharmas, that is attachment" to "If one practices in all-knowingness, that is attachment," it refers to grasping the dharmas of the three times as existing in an attached manner, and even practicing the pure dharmas of the six perfections and so on up to all-knowingness with attachment and signs, is attachment to the extreme of existence. From "Sharadvatiputra, if anyone says, 'What is it that is without attachment for those Bodhisattvas who practice the Perfection of Wisdom?'" to "Sharadvatiputra, those are the Bodhisattvas who are skilled in means, who are without attachment when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom," it refers to not grasping the five aggregates and the three times as signs in an attached manner, and combining the six perfections and other Bodhisattva practices with the eighteen emptinesses, not grasping them as signs with attachment, and acting with the three wheels completely pure, which is non-attachment. From "Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, spoke thus to the Venerable Subhuti" to "If one becomes attached to those attachments, one cannot practice the Perfection of Wisdom without attachment," it is because, in order to show the characteristics of attachment in detail to the retinue in another way, the previously mentioned characteristics of attachment to the extremes of existence and non-existence, therefore Indra, Lord of the Gods, speaks of the characteristics of attachment.

asked Rabjor, and Rabjor said that even if one perceives all the pure dharmas, such as the mind of enlightenment and the six perfections, as objects with characteristics, it is still attachment for a Bodhisattva. If one becomes attached in this way, it is contrary to the meaning of the Prajñāpāramitā, and therefore one cannot practice the Prajñāpāramitā without attachment. This shows the faults of having attachment. Why is that? Because from "Kaushika, one cannot completely dedicate the nature of form" to "one cannot completely dedicate the nature of all-knowingness," it shows the reason why it is unreasonable to dedicate with attachment and conceptualization. The dharmas from form, etc., up to all-knowingness are ultimately empty of inherent existence. Therefore, it is shown that there is no dedication with conceptualization that takes emptiness as its object. Kaushika, furthermore, has the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva correctly shown another the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? From "If that is the case, then that son or daughter of good family has completely abandoned all extremes of attachment," it shows that one should be without attachment to this profound Prajñāpāramitā. Furthermore, when teaching the Dharma to others, it also shows the method of teaching and encouraging without attachment. When practicing the pure dharmas from the six perfections, etc., up to all-knowingness, one should by no means have the thought that "I am practicing these dharmas," but rather one should correctly teach and encourage others, and generate joy and delight. Among these, correctly teaching means correctly showing the path to those who do not know the path to enter unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Correctly encouraging means correcting and adjusting those who have gone astray. Generating joy means not expecting to attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and thinking

To those who are discouraged, give encouragement and joy. To rejoice perfectly means to praise and extol those who have entered the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and then make them rejoice. "With a mind that has correctly followed" means to explain to others with a mind that is free from conceptualization, without any object of focus or clinging to characteristics; this is its meaning. It will not become a flaw, and with the correct encouragement given by the Buddha, it is correct encouragement, which means that when practicing such purified dharmas, if one does not generate conceptualization about practicing those dharmas, and if one teaches the Dharma to others, it will not become a fault, and it accords with the teachings of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, and is correct teaching and encouragement; this is its meaning. Therefore, that son or daughter of good family has completely abandoned all extremes of attachment, which means that if one teaches correctly in the manner described above, then one has completely abandoned the fault of viewing things with an object of focus and with characteristics, and all the faults of clinging to the extremes of existence and non-existence; this is what is being shown. Then, the Bhagavan gave his approval to the venerable Subhuti, saying, "Subhuti, it is good, good that you explain such aspects of attachment to the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas." This indicates that because Subhuti had previously explained the meaning of non-attachment, the Bhagavan rejoiced and gave his approval in order to make the retinue firmly believe. "Subhuti, therefore, you should explain even more subtle aspects of attachment," and so forth, means that even taking the Tathagata and so forth as objects of characteristics is attachment for a Bodhisattva. He is saying, "Listen, I will explain attachments that are even deeper and more subtle than those previously discussed." This is opening the topic. "Subhuti, here, a son or daughter of good family who has entered the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment," and so on, up to, "Whatever roots of virtue there are of those Hearers of the Tathagata, and of other sentient beings who are not Hearers, all of those should be taken as characteristics, unexcelled."
