Not only abandoning and distancing oneself from the Prajñāpāramitā, but also because the Prajñāpāramitā shows that all dharmas are without substance and are entirely emptiness. If someone thinks that the Prajñāpāramitā is mere dross, without essence, and thus discriminates, that is also abandoning and distancing oneself from the Prajñāpāramitā, which is what is to be shown. Question: World-Honored One, by having faith in the Prajñāpāramitā, in what dharma will one have faith? From having faith in the emptiness of all dharmas, including form, in ultimate reality, one should not have faith in things that are real. In order to thoroughly explain to the retinue and initiate the discussion, Subhūti asked the World-Honored One. The World-Honored One replied: Subhūti, by having faith in the Prajñāpāramitā, one will not have faith in form, and so on, up to not having faith in all-knowingness. This is understanding the meaning of the Prajñāpāramitā. If one has faith in the emptiness of all dharmas in ultimate reality, then one will not grasp all dharmas, from form and so on up to all-knowingness, as being real. This is what is to be shown. Question: World-Honored One, how does one not have faith in form by having faith in the Prajñāpāramitā? And so on, up to not having faith in all-knowingness? This is in order to thoroughly explain to the retinue the meaning of not grasping onto all dharmas, from form and so on up to all-knowingness, and to initiate the discussion, so Subhūti asked the World-Honored One. The World-Honored One replied: Subhūti, because one does not fixate on form, one will have faith in the Prajñāpāramitā. Thus, by having faith in the Prajñāpāramitā, one will not have faith in form, and so on, up to thus, by having faith in the Prajñāpāramitā, one will not have faith in all-knowingness. This is because one understands that all dharmas, including form, are empty of inherent existence in ultimate reality, and one will not consider any of them to be real.

If one does not fixate on appearances and does not grasp at characteristics, one will understand the profound meaning of the Prajñāpāramitā and generate faith. If one thus understands the profound meaning of the Prajñāpāramitā and generates faith, then with respect to all dharmas, including form, up to the attainment of all-knowingness, one will not generate faith based on the existence of entities. This is what is to be explained. Question: Bhagavan, the reason why this Prajñāpāramitā is called the "Great Prajñāpāramitā" is that when all dharmas, including form, are completely purified, one does not conceptually think of them as good and great; and when they are not completely purified, one does not conceptually think of them as bad and small. Thus, one does not conceptually think of them as spontaneously accomplished, and because of its great qualities, it is praised as the Great Prajñāpāramitā. The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, what do you think? By what reason is this Prajñāpāramitā called the Great Prajñāpāramitā? This is asking for the reason why it is the Great Prajñāpāramitā. Question: One does not consider form to be large, one does not consider it to be small, and so forth, up to one does not consider enlightenment, buddhas, and the dharmas of buddhas to be large. This is explaining the reason why it is the Great Prajñāpāramitā. Because the Prajñāpāramitā is the nature of non-conceptualization, with respect to all dharmas, including form, when they are completely purified, one does not conceptually think of them as good and great; and when they are not completely purified, one does not conceptually think of them as bad and small. Thus, one does not grasp at characteristics and does not conceptualize, and because of its great qualities, it is explained that this Prajñāpāramitā is the Great Prajñāpāramitā. Furthermore, the Prajñāpāramitā does not consider form to be contracted, it does not consider it to be expansive, and so forth, up to one does not consider enlightenment, buddhas, and the dharmas of buddhas to be contracted, it does not consider them to be expansive. This is also explaining the reason why this Prajñāpāramitā is the Great Prajñāpāramitā. Because the Prajñāpāramitā is the nature of non-conceptualization, with respect to all dharmas, including form, when they are completely purified, they are also in the realm of dharma.
