That which shows the reason why all things, such as omniscience, up to all dharmas, are without substance and cannot be directly proven. In the true sense, all those dharmas are without substance, so there is no manifest accumulation, birth, cessation, object, or destruction, and therefore they cannot be directly proven. Understanding in this way is the meaning of directly proving the Perfection of Wisdom. The request: World Honored One, what dharma should be attained by the Perfection of Wisdom that has been directly proven in this way? Like this, all dharmas are of the nature of no birth, no cessation, etc. If there is nothing at all, then what is the result of practicing and meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom in this way? The World Honored One said: Sharadvati's son, the Perfection of Wisdom that has been directly proven in this way does not attain any dharma. When no dharma is attained, then it enters into the number of the Perfection of Wisdom. This is because in the true sense, all dharmas are understood to be of the nature of emptiness, so one does not grasp at any dharma as a sign, and one does not attain it with attachment. This is the supreme wisdom of understanding that all dharmas are without substance, the Perfection of Wisdom that is spontaneously accomplished without discrimination. The request: World Honored One, what is it that does not attain all dharmas? That is, asking about the object of what dharmas are not attained, as mentioned above that no dharma is attained. The World Honored One said: One does not attain non-virtuous dharmas, etc., up to not attaining unconditioned dharmas. This means that all dharmas with and without outflows are, in the true sense, without substance, so none of those dharmas are the cause of attainment. Why is that? The Perfection of Wisdom does not abide near in the manner of focusing on any dharma, therefore it does not attain any dharma. This shows the reason for not attaining any dharma, that is, understanding that all dharmas are without substance, so

This also means that it is not abiding in a way that is fixated on the purpose of attainment. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, said to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, what? Does this Prajñāpāramitā not even attain the all-knowingness? This means that the fruit of practicing Prajñāpāramitā is not to attain the unsurpassed enlightenment of all-knowingness. Is it that it does not attain even that? asked. The Bhagavan replied: Kauśika, what do you mean by saying that? Saying that this Prajñāpāramitā does not even attain the all-knowingness? Kauśika, it is just so. It is just so, Prajñāpāramitā does not attain or fixate on all-knowingness, which means that ultimately, Prajñāpāramitā and all-knowingness are of one taste in emptiness, therefore the attainer and the act of attaining are distinguished as two, and there is no fixation, this is what is being shown. Indra asked: Bhagavan, how does Prajñāpāramitā not attain or fixate on all-knowingness? This is the question asked in order to elaborate on the reasons for not attaining all-knowingness. The Bhagavan replied: Kauśika, Prajñāpāramitā, just as its name, just as its sign, just as its manifest action, is not attained. This means that Prajñāpāramitā is of the nature of non-discrimination, therefore, it does not grasp onto names and signs, etc., for all-knowingness, nor is it attained, this is what is being shown. Indra asked: Bhagavan, then how is it attained? This is the question asked in order to elaborate on how to attain all-knowingness through non-fixation and non-grasping, etc. The Bhagavan replied: Without fixation, without grasping, without abiding, without abandoning, without manifest attachment, in that way it is attained.

The so-called "accomplishing" refers to the Prajñāpāramitā being non-conceptual, completely abandoning the grasper and the grasped, having no acceptance or rejection, and becoming equality itself, which in itself is the attainment of all-knowingness, this is what is to be explained. The so-called "there is no accomplishment whatsoever" means that because it is so non-conceptual, to accomplish in a way that has characteristics and attachment, there is nothing whatsoever, this is what is to be explained. Kauśika, thus the Prajñāpāramitā does not accomplish all dharmas, nor does it accomplish anything, this is to summarize and explain the reason stated above that no dharma is accomplished. Indra asked: World-Honored One, thus this Prajñāpāramitā abides in the absence of birth, absence of cessation, absence of manifest accumulation, absence of object of focus, and absence of fear for all dharmas, it is truly wonderful! This is because it has already been explained above that realizing the absence of birth, absence of cessation, etc. of all dharmas is itself the direct realization of Prajñāpāramitā, and from the ultimate truth, there is no dharma that can be accomplished. Therefore, Indra felt joy, and in order to make the retinue also generate joy and faith, he praised that such Prajñāpāramitā is truly wonderful. After that, the venerable Subhūti asked the World-Honored One, saying, up to "This is to distance oneself from Prajñāpāramitā," it means that if one thinks that Prajñāpāramitā is a real entity that accomplishes all dharmas and makes distinctions; or thinks that Prajñāpāramitā is a real entity that does not accomplish all dharmas and makes distinctions, then clinging to the two extremes of accomplishing and not accomplishing, because it contradicts the meaning of Prajñāpāramitā, it is abandoning and distancing oneself from Prajñāpāramitā, this is what is to be explained. The World-Honored One taught: Subhūti, in what way, up to "is the way to distance oneself from Prajñāpāramitā," it means clinging to and distinguishing the two extremes of accomplishing and not accomplishing.
